Is the pain mostly on the right side, and maybe radiating out and around your belly button? If so it could be your appendix so it would be a good idea to go to the Dr. If not, see if you feel better in a day or so and if not make an appt. Important: If the pain is severe and then all of a sudden goes away, get to the ER right away, it could mean that your appendix burst, which is very dangerous. Good Luck.

Oh yea. The queen of stomach pains right here!
First of all you have to look at what's been going on lately - have you been more of certain foods than usual? Or anything out of the ordinary? If its hurting like a full feeling in your lower stomach, it could be gas from eating an imbalanced diet or something out of the norm, and if its a full or sort of burning feeling in your upper stomach right below your ribs, it could also be indegestion or heart burn. Also consider if you're been under a lot of stress lately, your stomach will usually get a lot more acidic - the best thing you could do is drink milk, or eat tums or something with calcium in it do help balance things out again. If you're been having the pains for a while, or on and off frequently you should consider seeing a doctor, because it might be something like an ulcer (this is usually only when you've been stressed out for a long period of time) or some something else you should get checked. A rule of thumb is that if it bugs you for a week, go to the doctor. If not, try drinking more water, and eat relativly bland, non-fatty non-suggary foods, until you start feeling better. And heck, a hot water bottle and a day to chill and watch movies never hurt anyone. (I just saw the other notes, if you did just wake up with it, you probably do just need to get some food in you, and you'll feel better in like.. 20 minutes)
