I pulled meat out last night to make meatballs tonight, and it is still frozen. Any tips on speeding up the defrosting process without ruining the meat?

fill up your kitchen sink with hot water, put your meat in a ziplock bag and put it in the water. It should thaw within an hour, depends on how much you need to thaw. If its a lot make sure you keep checking the temp of the water, keep it hot!

fill the sink with hot water, and put the meat in it...i have done it many times. I wrap it with extra saran wrap to make sure its water proof it will defrost pretty fast...when I was in a super hurry I used microwave defrost setting also...IN all cases the meat turned out fine

Most microwaves have defrost meat settings that work well. If not, try soaking it (while still wrapped) in some cold water (not ice cold)for a few hours.

Don't thaw it under hot water. Frozen food should be kept cold until it's time to cook. Keeping the food somewhat warm for a prolonged period of time will cause bacteria to start to grow and flourish. Besides, it takes about 2 hrs to thaw a couple pounds of ground beef under cold water.

use a microwave, it's very safe, on 50% power. if no micro, cut it into small pieces and just keep cutting and scrapping away at it. takes time but you'll have meatballs tonight.
