I don't believe in ghosts as spirits because I don't believe in souls, which would be a requirement. In other words, I don't believe that there is an intelligence in ourselves that can continue to exist after our mortal death. Once we're gone, then we're just gone. However, I do believe in the *possibility* of other paranormal phenomena that could explain stories of ghosts.

I believe that it's likely that most stories of ghosts come from a phenomena called "imprinted memories." This occurs when a person a person with heightened potential for psionic abilities (telepathy or psychokinesis.... I don't believe in precognition) "imprints" a strong sensory or emotional memory into a location. This might be due to a traumatic event (death, rape, violence), which makes the emotions run high. Later, when another person with such potential moves into the location, he might pick up on the imprint, causing it to play back those emotions and sensory inputs. This would be very disconcerting, and the person's mind would likely experience the events as if they were living them, but they would know that they aren't. So, they would explain the visions that they experience as "ghostly entities" becausethey would, mostly likely, be people who would have to be dead (due to outdated styles and whatnot).

That would most likely be a form of extrasensory perception similar to telepathy. Psychokinesis could also explain other ghostly phenomena, like poltergeists. It has been noted that most cases of poltergeists occur in a household with a preteen to teen child, usually during the rigors of puberty and defined as a "troubled child." It's been theorized that a part of the brain that kicks into hyperdrive during this stage of development is also responsible for psychokinetic capabilities. With a body that's rapidly changing, these powers would also be growing, but in an uncontrolled state. Thus, things move with warning, usually flowing with the child's mood swings, lashing out when the child is troubled or upset.

ghosts are residual energy
they are not spirit and are not conscious
they are the remaining energy of what once was ... like a video playing over and over until the tape runs out
they are generally seen doing the same thing , walking through walls that dont exist any more , walking on footpaths that have been long covered up ( in the case of the roman soldiers )
there is evidence of ghosts ... but they are just energy

First of all this is subjective..It's whether 'YOU' believe them or not, not if anyone else does. If you believe it, it's true for you.
Don't ask people to generalize something like that, like if spirits are real.. One person cannot correctly make a true statement for the rest of the population..there's so many people, that's why..

What's real to someone or true to someone, may or may not be to someone else. Not one answer is right, not one answer is wrong.

Now my opinion, yes I believe in them..I've had encounters with them before. Once in my house I heard a big chest being opened while nobody was in the house..I've had things happen.
I didn't see one yet,I've felt spirits.. My mother saw one before,
said it looked like a person..just as real as you and me.

They are real. They kinda look like people, only...dead like. idk its hard to explain. Sometimes you cant tell the difference between them until you look a second time. Like...its hard to explain. I used to talk to a ghost when i was little. It is not just made up, its true. My aunt saw the same one when she was little and lived in my house.
