I drink about 2 glasses of red wine each week night with dinner. No other cocktails, spirits or blah blah blah. Then on weekends I have off, I tend to have about the norm (2 glasses of wine) and either 2 extra glasses or a few brews with hubby (he's a brew man) and call it quits. Is this bad? My prudish aunt says I am a bad influence for kids. But...we pay all our bills, have a nice home, we both work good jobs, and we never get drunk. Do I need to start AA or something?

Buster B...a spectacular red I had lately was Beringer Knights valley (2000) cabernet sauvignon. Mellow, smooth as silk (at room temp) and full bodied. Nice price at about 14 bucks. It's worth a try.

No, and plus u don't be getting drunk so u coo. Besides u pay yo bills so you can do whateva u want. girl it's yo life.
You ain't abusing it so it's alright. in spanish we have a saying: "cada quien hace de su culo un florero"
translation: "Each makes a flower pot out of there but" doesn't make much sense when u say it in english but basically it means u can do whatever u want with yo life sh*t it's u.

If you're not getting drunk, you should be fine. Just ask yourself if you NEED that few extra beers on the weekend, or if it's been increasing lately. If you are drinking more than two glasses of wine on the weekend, you ARE getting drunk though! Alcoholism can sneak up on you; it's not just people getting totally wasted all the time. If your aunt is totally anti-drinking, then it's none of her business. Personally, I think it's healthy for children to be around adults that are actually using alcohol wisely so they have a good example.

not at all. it sounds to me like your prudish aunt really has no business saying anything to you. alcohol only becomes a problem when it causes a problem. the fact that you are able to sit down at the end of the day and enjoy a glass or two of red wine probably means you are actually doing your body some good by lowering stress levels, which lower blood pressure. cheers!

No you aren't an alkie. You know when to stop and lots of people enjoy a glass of wine or two with their dinner. As long as you're always in control of the situation, don't worry about it. Now if you start to drink one or two bottles a night, you might have to start worrying. Cheers!

I can't remember who said it, but:

"When drinking gets in the way of your work, you're a heavy drinker. When work gets in the way of your drinking, you're an alcoholic." :)

Since you don't seem to fit either of these situations, I'd say probably not.

Do you feel like you need the drinks, or do you just want them? If you feel crappy without them, then you're probably at least a little addicted. But the way you present it, it sounds like it's something you do just to wind down, and it doesn't get in the way of your everyday stuff, so even if you are addicted-- Who cares!? I wouldn't suggest abstaining from alcohol unless it's something you really want to do.

I say you're not an alkie. That sounds totally responsible of you. You know when to quit, you don't drink as soon as you wake up, and you don't drive after drinking. I'm not sure what she thinks the problem is unless she's a teetotaler (not that there's anything wrong with that) and inflicting her beliefs on you.

No you're not an Alkie if you're happy! Its only when it becomes a problem for you or your family. Can you recommend a good red?
