My hair is naturally light brown, or strawberry blonde kind of,or dirty blonde. But I dye it black, and I've been for a long time.
How do I get my natural hair color back, without bleaching it?
I dont want to damage it, I used to bleach it a very long time ago,and I dont like bleaching it.. How do I do this? I'm confused..

I say just go to a hairstylist and let them deal with it. Afterall, that is what they do for a living. ;)

You can't lighten hair drastically without using bleach. I discussed this matter with a haircolorist when a friend of mine and I went to a salon to get her hair fixed that had been dyed black, and she confirmed that dyed black hair is the absolute hardest color to deal with. She also said that black hair dye is the hardest to remove, and some salons aren't even willing to completely strip the color due to the level of bleach and possible serious damage to the hair involved. (and you'll need to have it stripped if you want your hair dirty strawberry blonde again, especially considering how long you've been dying your hair the color) Not only that, but the resulting color from leaving the bleach on long enough to lighten it to such a light shade is typically unattractive, and also hard to fix. My friend ended up having to have her hair heavily highlighted via a bleaching and toning process that softened the color a bit until it grew out. If you think dying over your dyed black hair is a good idea, let me inform you of what will happen based on seeing many others try it. If you attempt to find a ligher color (light brown and lighter) then the resulting color will be an odd mix of an orangish shade with some black thrown in. If you use a darker color (i.e. medium brown or darker) then the color won't show up at all. That means that gradually lightening the black isn't possible either. The only place the lighter shade (I'm talking about the darker ones here) will show up is on your natural-colored roots. Moral of the story: black hair dye can't be removed from hair and done a much lighter shade without some amount of bleach. Go to a reputable hair salon and have it fixed.

You can't. Haircolor will not lift haircolor. You have to strip with color stripper. This is not going to go well at home. Good luck. Yo need to let the black fade off. Use Prell and condition the hell out of it for a year or go have it done professionally.

Gradually start with a dark brown and everytime you dye your hair again. about 6-8 weeks, go a shade lighter till you get your light brown.
