People will believe anything that some preacher or child molesting priest tells them. They believe silly stories that a bunch of people put together in one book and said it was from God. How is it that the church can brianwash people so easy. Is it just that they need to be lead?

Well, some people are just not capable of thinking for themselves. They need to be told what to do, what to think, how to act, how to live their lives. Without someone else telling them, they would be lost.
But its hard to find if the blame lies with the church, or the gullible people who willingly go to them. Its like who do you blame when a drunk driver wrecks his car and kills the passenger? Do you blame the guy who drove, or the stupid person who got into a car with a drunk driver?

Spirituality and your relationship with God is a private matter. Going to church is a misunderstood concept. Its really about resting on the seventh day. Its really about getting away from you and being with God. Its about getting together with like minded and like faith people.

The bad preachers and child molesters (BTW that I think are despicable to religion and should be put in jail not another church!!) have caused you to generalize. That isn't fair either.

Brainwashed you say? Easily?

No I disagree that would be a cult.

Churches are for knowledge, teachings, to become refreshed, to hear and learn and be closer to God . . . . collectively.

I give money to my church b/c someone has to pay to have the lights on, the heat, the a/c, the music equipment, b/c my church makes dinner for the families who are sick, funds for the college kids graduating and sending them off with a gift from the church. Because we give back to the community and most of all b/c God tells me to. (10%)

I understand where you could have an idea such as this and I think if it is b/c you have gone to a church not operating in light and have had a bad experience, then you need to try another one.

God Bless

religion was invented by man not by God. Altough I agree that there is some brainwashing in the church i must say that there is also some good(made by the single priests not by the church as a whole). The Bible is a good book to read but it depends who reads it and how it is interpreted by the single. The worst example is Bush he said that he is insipred by that book(how many people died for his mistakes?) He brainwashes people too yet they kept him in office... So you see..it is not the church or the government or the commercials on tv who brainwashes us..

it is us that we like so much being braiwashed unfortunally and there are too many out there who like to do that...so don't blame it all on the church but on the stupidity of humans...

What most people believe is not even in harmony with what the Bible really teaches. An example would be of the concept of the trinity doctrine: everything is done in threes; the crossing, then repeating: the Father, son and holy ghost. In one church this is done ritualistically, that is doing everything in threes; And I think people come to associate God with a trinity.

This is where it is important to do you own research so that you will be educated in choosing the correct path.

Because some people have been raised to believe everything the church tells them. That means the person's trust in the church and minister(s) is absolute. They don't use their God given ability of free thought, so they are succeptible to having thoughts directed in ways that may not be healthy for themselves or society.

It isn't ignorance. It's training. They only know one way, and have been told all other ways are simply false.

2 Cor. 4:4 " ...Among whom the god of the system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ might not shine through."

Ever considered maybe they aren't teaching God's thoughts at all?

Acts 20:30 " And from among you yourselves men will rise and speak twisted things to draw away the disciples after themselves."

1 Tim. 4:1-3 "However the inspired utterance says definately that in later periods of time some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to misleading inspired utterances and teachings of demons by the hypocrisy of men who speak lies...forbidding to marry, commanding to abstain from foods which God created...."

2 Tim 4:3 "For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the heathful teaching, but in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled."

Because some still believe that the chuch has the power to send them to hell. An example would be in the middle ages, people believed the pope had the power to send them to hell or heaven. Until Martin Luther (not Martin Luther King) told them they were responsible for their own salvation.

Religion is very compelling. It tells you that you are special, sacred, important. It reassures you that you are never truly alone, and that there is always someone that loves you (even if it seems otherwise).

Also, if you're told something from a very young age, then you will often believe it all your life, as long as your parents keep affirming and insisting that it is true. Consider that historically, Christianity spread itself by the sword and you have a trifecta on your hands.

they didn't brain wash me... i didn't believe for a long time, it wasn't the church that convinced me it was personal experience... i know for a fact that there is a God and when judgment day comes those who turned away so many times during there life will wish they had listened to all of the christians trying to warn them.

i'll pray for you

most people are taught from a young age but there are people who are older that are lonely and vulnerable to some of the tactics that are used such as they are told that we love you and will be your family and will always be there for you and whatnot and whatnot and if that doesn't work then they use scare tactics which are so dirty it's disgusting
