In the past two weeks, I haven't slept for more than 7 straight hours. I usually sleep though my lunch break (about an hour), and get between 2-4 hours in the afternoon. I know I'm tired, but I can't sleep. Oh, and what could cause insomia? Thanks for the help.

You do not have insomnia. If you did, you wouldn't actually feel tired and you wouldn't actually go to sleep. You may be experiencing some stress which is why your sleep schedule is so thrown off.
Try drinking a glass of warm milk at night or take a benedryl then lay in the bed with all the lights off for at least 45minues to an hour before you decide that you just cant sleep.

By continuing this pattern you are only enabling your body to think it can't have more than 2-4 hours of sleep a day, and that's not good. The effects are dangerous especially of you drive. And even if you do not drive you may begin to gain weight, become grouchy, and even begin to start displaying nervous and anxious habits.

If this is lasting more than like a month, you should see a doctor about a sleep aide medication.

Stress most commonly triggers short-term or acute insomnia. Insomnia can cause problems during the day, such as excessive sleepiness, fatigue, trouble thinking clearly or staying focused, or feeling depressed or irritable. It is not defined by the number of hours you sleep every night. Although the amount of sleep a person needs varies, most people need between 7 and 8 hours of sleep a night. if it does persist I would see a doctor
