Which subs subwoofers are better? ALPINE SWX-1242D Type X 12" or Pioneer Premier TS-W3004SPL 12"?

Question

Both subs are 12" but does any one know which sub is better? I also have a 4000 watt LEGACY LA2278 2Ch Amp. I want to get 2 subs but I don't know which to get. Is this amp I have a good one and if not which one should I get. What guage wire should I use for this system and what else should I get besides a capictor? How do you hook up this system to a battery (very detailed or pics) and is there anything else I can buy to make my system better?? I NEED HELP!!!!!

you should listen to both subs (if you can) and decide which ones you like better. they are both very close in specs, but i bet they sound way different from each other. also, the cable should be NO LESS THAN 4 GAUGE, but better off with 2 or 0 gauge for that kind of power. unless you have a big truck, you may want to get a more powerful alternater and your cap should be at least 2 to 5 farads. your 2 channel amp is probably designed to be bridged if it is that powerful. if you get the subs with the 2-ohm voice coils, you may have a problem. get the ones with the 4-ohm voice coils so you can bridge all four of them in parallel to get down to 1-ohm. you will NEED to get a large 2- or 4-channel amp (at least 100watts rms per channel) and use that to drive component speakers for your highs and mids. if you don't, that system will sound like crap because all you'll hear is bass and seriously overdriven, distorted screaming coming from your other speakers. detailed pics? look at your owner's manual, they tell you very clearly what to do. any doubts (or no manuals), then look the amp up at it's manufactuers website. there you can find and download/open the owner manual.

Alpines. bro. i own 2 10s and they punch awesome. great low frequency response.
also, for connecting the power cable, there should be a hole with rubber where cables are accessed to the engine. it depends where your battery is. on the right or left. ANOTHER way could be, drilling a whole under the trunk. (watch the fuel tank) most cars have caps so water can be drained from the bottom of the trunk. you can attach the cable to the frame and run it to the front. i havent done that but it is possible. if you happend to drill a hole though the firewall for battery access, MAKE SURE that you seal it somehow. you dont want any fumes such as carbon monoxide or oher harmful gases to enter the cabin.

and you need at least a 10 gauge cable for them 4000w. the ground, you can drill a hole on the metal of the trunk, take sum paint off, and screw the cable in. that way you wont have to get the ground for the battery also. (dont drill on the sides of the car) drill right under the trunk door or somehwere there where the metal is good and solid.

yo i can help u out..im gonna have to say that u should get the 12" pioneer premier but the TS-W3002SPL(which has the same power handling by the way) because i have the 3004SPL and although they have outstanding powerhandling they are only able to hit at 2ohm the 3002SPL a lil bit more expensive on ebay can run at 1ohm which is highly recommended for ppl who want serious bass.i found that out the hard way but i will buy the 3002SPL soon. but yeah and about the amp u should get a 1channel because mono blocks(1channel) amps are designed for producing nothin but bass...hope i helped u out a bit

Pioneer holds the SPL world record. and Alpines sound like junk. those 3000s are a great value, alpine is overated, go with Pioneer.

First your 4000 watt amp is probally not pussting out more than 700. and if you undepower you subs they will clip. and be destroyed in a few months. and caps dont do shitt of you dont have a good charing system.
