Oh...I was just going to ask what the living arrangements were. Um...well...if we were breaking up, I would just let you have the ferret...so that way you would not be alone. But that's just me.

Well-whoever the ferret was given to as a gift would keep it, I think.
You might want to take into account whether the ferret is more attached to one of you than the other, though.

I'd say you do. It was given to you as a gift, it's no longer his/hers. If you two, break up and are on good terms and love that pet, I'm sure that the two of you can comprise something to where the both of you can enjoy the pet. Maybe alternate weekends or weeks.

Well, if you both want it (or don't want it) equally, I would assume
that the person who received the gift keeps it.
Of course, if you're living together, you're probably adult enough
to discuss it with each other and come up with a somewhat
more amicable, less arbitrary arrangement.
