I've been really dieting for 2 1/2 weeks. One week I tried to keep my calories aorund 1500 and now it's around 1200. I work out 1 hour a day [burn anywhere from 400-500 calories a day] and I take a day for a break and another for a cheat.
I haven't lost ONE pound yet. I'm getting discouraged. I used to eat so much and I mantained my weight and now that I cut down my calories significantly & exercise.. I lose nothing.
Why??

If I exercise 6 out of 7 days..for an hour each.
I'm 16, I don't get why my metabolism is so slow.

I don't know if this makes a difference but when I said cheat, I don't mean that I pig out and eat everything.
I mostly eat healthy but last week I had some pizza and a little twix bar. =[

I forgot to add, I'll stop cheating though even a little bit and I'm going to try to exercise more.

It usually takes awhile before you start losing weight as defined by the weighing scale. This is because muscles weigh the same as fat, and during your initial exercising a lot of your fat stores are being converted to muscles. Therefore, numerical weight lost is usually seen AFTER significant physical differences. You are on your way, dont give up! :)

Sometimes your digestive system can keep you from losing weight. If you have a hard time losing weight, if you feel tired a lot, if you have IBS-type problems (irregular bowel movements) you might have a sluggish digestive system. You would be amazed how much better you feel and how easily you lose weight when you get your digestive system working correctly.
What i did was get some digestive enzymes and within a few days I noticed a HUGE differance. I lost 8 lbs in the first 7 days. Of course I didn't lose weight that quickly once my body leveled out, but the weight dropped off consistantly 2 -3 pounds a week after that. I was eating correctly, there is not "magic pill" but working hard to lose 3 pounds a week is a LOT better than working hard to lose no weight.
You can get enzymes a lot of different places, I would suggest doing some research on it and find out if its something for you, but I use Zymelite, you can get them from http://www.zymelite.com. But juts becuase it works for me, dosen't mean it will work for you... i always suggest doing lots of research and even possibly talking it over with your doctor.

The break and cheat days are negating the weight-loss effects of the other days. You have to try to stay in balance and develop healthy habits every day.
That doesn't mean you can NEVER have chips or a piece of cake, just that you need to count those calories and take it easy for the rest of those days so that it's not really cheating.
Whatever you do, don't drop below 1200 calories. Your body will go into deprivation mode and cling to your fat even more tenaciously.

You could have a slow metabolism, which will make it really hard to lose weight. This generally happens as you get older. You can slow it down, I believe by not eating healthily and not exercising.
Try not to get discouraged. You can speed up your metabolism by getting your vitamins, eating healthy, and exercising daily. This will take a while. Track your achievements in a journal and read them over night. This will keep you motivated. Remember to drink TONS of water.
When you look at yourself in the mirror, look at the way you could be when you lose weight, skinnier with more muscles. This will also keep you motivated.
Good luck!

Your metabolism has probably slowed down.
Instead of taking the "cheat" day every 3 days, try to eat around 1800 calories. You won't gain weight, and it's easier on you since you can eat a bit more. Try exercising more days, too, even if it's just for 10 minutes.

You need to really educate yourself about eating right and getting in shape. At 16 you should have a good amount of energy because you're so young. There is a lot of information on The Fit Chic... http://www.thefitchic.com/?freegift=1325
There is free information on there but the e-book is a great tool....it helped me lose almost 30 lbs without trying too hard.
Good luck..I hope this helps

reducing your calories is not always the answer. your body needs a certain amount of protein and nutrition to operate correctly. If its targeted weight loss you want then go to www.myhealthabc.com and they will help you. They have loads of different products and systems to help anyone. Plus which you can lose weight safely whilst getting more protein etc into your body.
Plus which they are nice people aswell and really helped me.
Good look
