In my opinion, I think you should do it. If you really like him, then ask him, if you don't you'll never know what he's feeling. If he says no then it's fine because you'd probably hate him afterwards..lol. You're probably feeling scared, so maybe you should send him an e-mail, or talk to him in private because he might be influenced by his peers when in public (I'm not sure if this still holds true, since Im like 234 238 996 years old and when you're this age, you don't care that much about "asking someone out", you'd be aiming for "your true love"..lol)
Anyways...remember looks aren't everything ;)

I would have liked it if a female did that when I was in school. Just the fact that she had done that might make me want to go out with her even if I wouldn't have otherwise.

Do you know the boy well?
If not, I would reccomend getting to know him before you ask him out. Asking someone ont, based on their appearance in my opnion, is a shallow thing to do.
If you already do know him, and are unsure about it, I don't see why you shouldn't ask him out. You could hint at the fact that you like him, see if he likes you back. Or you could be bold and outright ask him out.

Go for it. You never know what he'll say. He might like you too. Plus, it doesn't really matter if he says no. It probably won't be a big deal. Just tell him that you like him. Good Luck!!!
