I just got back from basic training and now I am told that I might have to go to Iraq in April. The thing is, I was on adderall before basic training, however I didn't tell them that because if I did they wouldn't let me in. After basic training I realized how hard everything was for me without my medication. Now, I know I can't go to Iraq without it. I don't even know if they would let me. So I was wondering if there is a way to get medically disharged for ADD.

Yes, you can get out.

Do you remember that lecture they gave, right before you enlisted, the lecture about fraudulent enlistment? Well, that's going to be the discharge code your get along with an RE-4.

It'll be an Entry Level Separation, not medical. No VA benefits for you.

If David is being medically discharged, his present day term of provider would be characterized as honorable and he would be eligible for all his VA advantages, as properly because of the fact the GI bill if he opted for it and paid the mandatory quantity into it. he will additionally get carry of a month-to-month disability verify from the nationwide shield in accordance with (a) his month-to-month pay on the time he replaced into medically discharged, and (b) the proportion of disability he gained -- and that i'm guessing it is going to be a hundred% given the character of his injuries. As for training tips, the policies on that adjust from state to state, so David might opt to communicate to the folk on the backside guidance place of work to ascertain.

*deep sigh* I used to be the guy you'll be going to see about this. Hence my Monikur. Without intentionally trying to scare you, here's the deal. You have falsified government documents. If someone had a real hardon for you, you could be looking at up to ten years in prison and or a ten thousand dollar fine. Generally, they won't go after this because it's just not cost effective. To present this as you have also suggests malingering, which if my memory serves me correctly is Art. 192 of the U.C.M.J. and in a time of war, feigning illness to avoid one's duty is punishable by death. Again, something just not really worth persuing. Go, check in for sick call and ask to see your medical officer. Be prepared to show supporting documentation from your family physician prior to your enlisting.

Tell them you have ADD.

One of two possibilites will happen:

1.) they medically discharge you
2.) they get you your medication

"Now, I know I can't go to Iraq without it" Both possibilities 1 and 2 solve this problem.

Why did you join if you don't want to fight? They'll give you the Adderall.

You made a commitment to your country - honor it.

Seems to me that your taking advantage of your very small illness just so you don't have to do something you signed up for. You really do give soldiers a bad name...

Private here is what you do talk to your squad leader or a specialist that has been in for a while.

Nice try, but probably not. ADD is treatable, and you can be weaned off Adderall.
