1. Make sure you are tired.
2. Your bed is for sleep, don't watch TV there, read, or study.
3. Try stretching every muscle you can and focus on deep rythmic breathing.
4. Picture calm, serene settings and focus on them.

I find if i exercise through the day I sleep a lot better than normally so lots of jogging or swimming or just walking a lot through the day.

Take the TV out of your room. Dont drink caffine an hour prior to bed and get exercise throughout the day so that you are tired at an earlier time.
