I would say yes. Are they trying to conjure up magic? Anything mystical is really intrinsically linked with spiritism, and the Bible warns against that. And "alchemy" doesn't have the connotation of just being chemistry.

alechemy is just chemistry with some mystisism thrown into it. There was loads of ignorance back then, as there is today. The idea of mixing two soft metals together to make a harder alloy was practically magic back then. But Alchemy was never a formalized religion, at some points in history before the Renissaunce(sp) before science really got rolling Alchemist were invoking the blessing of saints. More along the lines of, "Bless me please and dont let me get blown up."

There's nothing wrong with it. It has neither good nor bad energies unto itself. The intention of the alchemist are what determine the type of energy created. Modern medicine as well as metallurgy have roots in alchemy.

Real alchemy can only be practiced in the best laboratories using the great power of nuclear fusion! If YOUR CHILD has access to top government facilities then I would seriously be worried!

i does not say oil is nice or undesirable. it truly is slightly of both. good: that is totally necessary and significant in our each day lives. imagine about all those automobiles on the line (non-electric powered ones). They use oil to skill their engines. also, stoves use oil too. Many living house equipment use oil, yet there is also a nasty facet to it...... undesirable: Oil is a nonrenewable source. It takes a lengthy time period to type and it may't be stumbled on in simple terms everywhere. Plus, if an oil deliver leaks, it truly is going to be difficult to sparkling it up - like the present oil spill. not truly cutting-edge anymore. yet in any case, oil can catch on hearth actual. so standard, it truly is a fantastically risky yet functional source or skill. i recommend wind and and image voltaic skill for the destiny.

I laways thought alchemy was, like, making riches, and eternal life, and stuff. So I don't see how it's related to religion.

I would like to refute what wolfman said. One of the definitions for Mysticism is "occult", what edie said was on the money.

I would like to refute what edie said.
The mystical side of alchemy was focused on enlightenment and being a better human being, not spirits. I would judge alchemical religious practices to be on Heaven's side of things.
On the other hand, there were numerous alchemists and charlatans claiming to be alchemists who focused on gold (the "perfected" form of metals) and wealth, rather than on gold's role in spiritual perfection. This was rather more common in European alchemy than in the Taoist alchemy practiced in Asia.
However, I would not expose a child to it, much as I would not expose a child to dangerous chemicals. White phosphorus, for example, was originally discovered through alchemy, and is much more dangerous than the common red form of phosphorus. Likewise, the European alchemical practices often used powerful acids, another material you should never allow anyone to "play" with.
Perhaps give your child some books to read for fun instead?
