Hi,
I just bought a 1990 VW Golf MK2 Driver - 5 Dr 1.6,
RIGHT HAND DRIVE I AM IN THE UK

the car has a leak, behind the drivers seat, after the seat railing near the door, its about a 15cm damp spot and is more of a rectangle shaped spot.

there seems to be no water coming from the door or roof?? seals seem ok

any hoses run under the seats and carpet?? could i have a hole in my car or under it??? ANYTHING clogged??

any ideas?? thanks!!

The door seals may look just fine but they may have shrunk (compare it to tightening the belt around your waist) You don't spread out as far as you did before.
In this case a shunken seal won't reach the edge of the door opening. to seal shut.
Close inspection. Especially in the corners of the door. Stick strips of paper overtop the seal so that the ends stick out on the inside and outside as you close the door. Then with the door closed, see if the paper pulls out easily> if it does it is not pushing hard against the opening.
First place I would look. There are no holes underneath.. The car is solid that way.

Yeah I had a car that did something similar. I always had standing water on the passenger's side floor. Named the car Floody. An obvious choice. No one ever could figure out what the problem was.

I guess I'm not really a big help, but I do sympathize.

I have had a similar problem, has your water in your radiator been dropping? If it is you will find that the radiator from your heater is leaking into the car. My passenger side kept getting wet and finally traced it back to a brittle radiator hose.

I had this problem too.
The drains from my sunroof were not put back right after my ground effects were put on.
I had to take it to VW to have the drains fixed.

i imagine it rained. examine the passages that permit water to empty from the interior at the same time as it rains And dont spill sater interior anymore OR enable different ppl placed water on your motor vehicle.
