Just put a big L on your forehead, that ought to take care of it.

I hope you are looking for suggestions and not concrete answers! :)
What kind of tattoo? Since it's for life, you want to get one that you won't regret having on your body indefinitely. Many people choose designs that have personal meaning for them. If the meaning changes later in life, or interest, or whatever, you can always look at it as a mark of what you were into during a certain period of your life. There are a number of sites where you can browse tattoo designs for free (only charge for a purchase) such as www.TattooFinder.com.
Where to get a tattoo? The pain levels are different on different areas of the skin, but this really shouldn't be a consideration. Get it where you want to get it, and deal with the pain (people react differently to pain, what hurts for one might not hurt much for another). The main consideration for location probably should be professional. Some areas of the body are easy to hide (cover) and some are not. If you are going to get a tattoo on a part of your body that is not easy to hide, say your forearm (forcing you to wear long sleeve shirts perhaps), then you better be REALLY sure you are going to be working in an environment that is supportive of visibly tattooed skin for the rest of your life.
Another location consideration is how much and often do you want to see it? If you get a tattoo on your back for example, the only time you see it is in a mirror or photograph.
Hope this helps! :) If not, get a "mom" tattoo on your right bicep, everyone is doing it!

Only you can answer that. It all depends on what you are in to. And where really doesnt matter because once you get one you will want more. You will soon start to run out of places. But your arm is a good place to start. Also dont get something anyone else has. Have a friend draw something. Or if you have seen a drawing or something somewhere.

hey i've tattooed alot of first timers (virgins) and they usually get some thing small to start out with. like a name, small tribal, or crosses. most people say arms and backs are less painfull. I dont remember anymore.(I'm coverd in tattoos) but the decision about what you get is totally up to you. "when a friend picks a tattoo for you then he should be the one getting one."

A tat is a very personal decision. Choose something that represents you or is meaningful in some way. This will be with you for life so choose wisely.(no girlfriend's names or fave bands etc.) For guys, I like them on the upper arm and on the shoulder blade.

It should say something like "I'm as boring and trendy as the 38% of Americans who also think they are original by getting a tattoo". Yea something to that effect. Or a sheep.
