If the iron is caused by hard water and it is not chemicaly altered, yes lemon juice or viniger will help.
If the iron deposit is caused by a chemical that would change the removal process?

Why do you need to get the iron out of your hair anyway? Is your hair getting stuck to magnets?

Lemon juice and vinegar might work to chelate the iron and then you could wash it away once it's in a complex.

But I think the iron in your hair is probably there to stay, because it is incorporated into the matrix. The only iron you can wash away is probably the iron that got in there when you dunked your head into a bucket of iron fillings.

Also be careful, if you don't want your hair to change colors (to like, orange), you might want to avoid putting lemon juice and vinegar into it.

Why would you want to remove iron in your hair? Actually, I don't think hair has iron in it!? No, it won't harm your hair if you use them in the shower. People use them to add shine or to lighten hair. Lemon will dry out your hair...if you leave it to long.

They are acids and the hair has an acid mantel so it is not harmful. Your hair may tend to bleach a bit.
