I am looking for a passage from when Jesus comes in the Book of Mormon. Does Jesus ever use any Old Testament prophecy in connection with what he does in the America's? (In the New Testament, Jesus says all the time "for it is written..." and then quotes a prophecy from OT.) If you know of any passages, please list where I can find them.

Thanks!

No, I'm looking for a passage in the Book of Mormon that follows the general outline of this scripture: Luke 8;9-10. In this passage, Jesus tells his disciples something and then Jesus quotes the Old Testament (Isaiah) to show that the prophecy is coming true.

So, are there any passages like this in the Book of Mormon...where Jesus says something and then uses Old Testament scripture to back it up?

Ok, I found one to start with. In 3 Nephi 12:21 Jesus makes reference to the Old Testament, "Ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, and it is also written before you, that thou shalt not kill, and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment of God." I have some cross references here below that point directly to Exodus 20:13 and Deuteronomy 5:17. You note that Jesus didn't say, "You know in Exodus 20:13 and Deuteronomy 5:17" because obviously the Bible didn't exist in such a specific format as of yet, either in the Old World or the New World. The rest of the chapter is also written in the same manner, as Jesus' style of teaching in the New Testament is remarkably similar in the Book of Mormon, and with good reason. In 3 Nephi 15 in verse 9 there are some references to Old and New Testament scriptures (but again, Jesus doesn't say, go look over here in verse such and such, because obviously the Old Testament - to the best of our knowledge - didn't exist in a codified manner with chapters and verses, and the New Testament would not have existed yet either. He says, "Behold, I am the law, and the light. Look unto me, and endure to the end, and ye shall live; for unto him that endureth to the end will I give eternal life." There is a cross reference here to Leviticus 18:5. In 3 Nephi 20:11 Jesus says, "Ye remember that I spake unto you, and said that when the words of Isaiah should be fulfilled-behold they are written, ye have them before you, therefore search them." This is interesting because it seems like Jesus expects the Nephites (and converted Lamanites) to be honors students and just know where the references are, or else find them on their own. In 3 Nephi 20:36 it says, 'And then shall be brought to pass that which is written: Awake, awake again, and put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city, for henceforth there shall no more come unto thee the uncircumcised and the unclean." There is a cross reference here to where the quote came from, Isaiah 52:1-3. See, the Nephites already believed in Jesus Christ as the Messiah, and His appearance in the Americas was very dramatic, following great cataclysmic events, so they were already paying attention. He could have quoted other prophecies as needed, and I don't have my commentaries with me, but His time in the Americas was much briefer than what He spent in the Old World, so it stands to reason that He would simply emphasize how He had fulfilled the Law of Moses and to teach His Gospel of Love in similar terminology to what He taught in the Old World.

Read 3 Nephi 10. It talks about what happened during the crucifiction and some of the other prophecies. Also, read chapter 11. It describes his coming and he basically says the Sermon on the Mount talk that he gave before his death. There are also other places. There is a link that I'm putting below that will answer all those questions.

3 Nephi is a good place to start...it is where Christ visits the America's.
Chapter 11 is where to start...you want quotes he said to them as well as people in the bible?
3 Nephi 11:33
And whoso believeth in me, and is baptized, the same shall be saved; and they are they who shall inherit the kingdom of God.
cross-reference:
Mark 16:16
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Like that?

The book of mormon is no more real than the bible is. Large portions of it are copied directly from the bible (mostly Isaiah), and most of it makes no sense at all.

Nevertheless, you asked, so:
Go to the link below, you can search the book of mormon on your own all you want to.

It's not bad for a book made up by a guy who put magic stones in his hat to help him find buried treasure :) But as "holy literature" -- please :(

The book of Mormon is a false book created by man. It copied some of the principles of the Bible and then filled in the blanks. Mans reasoning cannot pass Gods.
