Very good observation, I also agree it is a shame there are so many Bush bashers that we feel we have to defend ourselves from them. Half of the ones I talk to don't have enough Political education to truly form an opinion on any political or military subject. I asked a group of Bush and war bashers the other day, "Can anyone here name the three branches of Government, if you can I will then talk to you about politics, out of 5, no one could answer" (and don't go Google it then reply to me)

I am not a Bush hater (or a Bush lover for that matter). I agree with what you said about the transparency of the comments made by the leaders of Iran and Syria. I also think we probably need more troops to help stabilize the country of Iraq before we leave. What concerns me is the comments made by the American commander in Iraq about the message we make when we send more troops. He doesn't seem to think it will work, and he knows more about it than anyone on this forum knows. It could take decades to "stabilize" Iraq, not months.

I can 'comprehend' that Iran doesn't want more American troops in Iraq.
However, I don't think 20,000 troops are going to make much difference either way. Americans are hopelessly outnumbered over there, and the longer we are there the more likely some pan-islamic state will become.
That means, troops or not, supply lines are vulnerable, and if you can't comprehend what that means, maybe you should go live in the green zone for a while instead of trying to convince Americans who knew the iraq war was stupid all along that there is a quick military fix to this situation.
Bush is the worst kind of stupid, he keeps digging the hole.

They both do have a point, many people over there see U.S. involvement as an attempt to also establish western dominance over the Middle East region, which is one of the few regions of the world without much influence of western civilization. Personally, i think that we should have left them alone because Iran would have destroyed Iraq without our help.
The thing to do though, is send some people over there that can help to straighten out the political mess that is running so rampant throughout that region of the world.

The government of Iran is Islamist madmen. They are the exact opposite of freedom and liberty. They want to rule the world with their Islamic craziness. There was a good reason our founders wanted a separation between church and state. the two are incongruous.
The Mullas in Iran are worried that the young people of their country will get the freedom fever and try to dump the religious fanatics.

We screwed up this war like we screwed up Viet Nam. Has anyone really seen great upheaval in Viet Nam since we left? We do not understand the culture in Iraq and force-feeding democracy in areas that do not directly affect our national security is very 1980 and will be the end of us if we aren't careful. All of our efforts to " Free" Iraq should have been spent chasing bin Ladin.

I think you are probably right about Iran and Syria. They don't care that much if Iran burns to the ground but they do care about their religious vendetta.
For chunkymonkey who claims we are criminals I suggest that you should immigrate someplace else if you hate the US so much. You haven't the first clue what is in the mind of most conservatives because you already think you know and have eliminated any possibility of every learning anything.

People talk about wanting to destroy Israel but nothing will ever happen b/c everybody knows we won't allow Israel to be destroyed. I think what they meant was, how is adding 20,000 American Soldiers going to calm anybody down? It makes us look like we are trying to be permanent fixture in their country. I know none of you would allow Iraq to put military bases in America. And you'd be willing to fight until they were gone.

I agree with you 100%
It is curious that you have to preface your question with a statement about the President. Have we reached a point where the Liberals would rather lose the war (knowing we will have to return) just to attack the Bush presidency.

that is a big conclusion you jumped to. iran never threatened israel. if you have a direct link to his speeches,i'd like to see it. all i can find is secondhand media reports telling us part of what he said and how we are supposed to interpet it.
