Not just any old air, but the really good stuff.

Well air is life giving isn't it? You can't live without it, but you can live without religion and still be a good human, and that is more important than believing in a God or any particular religion.

By your analogy, you don't need religion after death, because the dead don't breathe, as a matter of fact presence air hastens decomposition!

If it gives you a feeling of comfort and security in this cold and confusing world, then by all means go forth and buy a bag of really good air or adopt a religion.

For me personally, adopting a religion is as useful as buying a bag full of air........i dont believe in it and i dont need it, i like what i believe!

But for other people i dont think so, some find comfort in religion and feel their life is worthwhile because of it! Even tho i dont agree with peoples religions, i think its important to a lot of people!! some people take it too far, but yeah.

No - I could have loads of fun if I bought a bag of air (especially if it was that really good stuff) - adopting a religion would just make me miserable.

I don't believe in the objects of faith--gods, angels, and magic,--but that doesn't mean that I can't appreciate the important role that faith plays in the lives of the faithful. Just because it doesn't appeal to me doesn't mean that it serves no purpose or has no worth. I actually think belonging to a community of ANY kind that gives one a feeling of kinship and belonging can be very valuable and fulfilling. And some people seem to really need ritual to give their lives structure and need to place their destinies into the hands of a higher power, whether such a thing exists or not.

Maybe if it was the air in Marsellus Wallace's briefcase - then Vincent Vega wouldn't have gotten shot and died on the toilet, he would have sucked the air and lived.

Some people seem to need it. I guess religion is sort of like training wheels for life.
