some people have different pain levels. Some people think it hurts and other may not even feel it. It just depends on how your body will react to the pain.
What they will do is tie a rubber band around your arm. And they will probably make you make a fist so they can find a good vein. Once they find a good vein, they will rub it down will alcohol so it will be clean. Then they will stick you with a needle, which my look big but normally doesn't go all the way in so it is not that bad. Then blood will start running into little tubes and they get as much as they need. And they will untie the rubberband when the blood starts running and also they will let you relax your arm... Then when they have all the blood they need, they will take the needle out and put a folded 4"4" gauze on top of it. They will ask you to put pressure on it and hold it up for 30 sec to a minute. Then they will either tape the 4"4" on you or put a bandaid. It will not take long at all. Under 5 min do go through the whole process. Be be sure not to move all that much because if you jump they can miss the vein and have to stick you again. So try to stay still.
If you are really scared look the other way and think about something else and you'll be fine.
Good luck, remember it won't be that bad.

It might hurt, but it will be just a little prick. And yes, your mom can stay with you and hold your hand and everything.
Also, make sure to explain to the nurse that you are scared. Don't worry about being embarrassed. They see lots of people just like you all the time. (I'm very scared of needles. I fainted after a shot once.) You can also ask for an experienced nurse. Or have your mother ask for you.
First the nurse will tie a rubbery string around your upper arm. This will hurt a teeny bit, like getting your blood pressure reading. But, if it realllllly hurts, make sure to tell her.
Next, she might tap your arm, in the little bend of your elbow. This is just to find a good vein. Then she'll wipe it with alcohol on a cotton swab and then she will slowly put the needle in. This is the most uncomfortable part. It will hurt just a little bit, but the needle will need to stay in for a minute or so. It will feel funny. Then she'll put it out and tell you to hold a piece of cotton there to stop the bleeding. Then you get a band-aid and you're done.
My suggestions. Some may work for you, depending on why you are scared of needles.
- have mom talk to you the whole time
- have the nurse tell you what she is doing
- bring music
- close your eyes and count slowly (like meditating)
GOOD LUCK!

No--it won't hurt, unless they prick your finger!(there are thousands of nerve endings in your fingertips--that's why it hurts so bad here!!!)
Usually you'll sit in a chair, have your arm up on a platform or desk, palm-up. The nurse will tie an elastic band around your arm, and try to find the vein--usually somewhere near your elbow.
You may want to look away, or, I find that I'd rather see waht the nurse is doing (but I'm not afraid of needles). If you get a good nurse, they'll get the vein right away. It doesn't really hurt-- it feels like a mosquito or deerfly is biting you, and only for a second!
Once the needle is in the vein, they snap on a collecting vial, and your blood will flow into it. Usually they'll take 2-3 vials. Don't worry-- you have plenty!!
The needle will slide out, the nurse will have you hold a pad onto it, then Band-Aid you up! Good to go!!
Don't worry-- and don't tense your muscles--this makes it hurt!! It'll be over in a flash! Good luck!!! Then, talk your Mominto going out for lunch!!!

Yes, your mother can stay with you. Yes, it will hurt a tiny bit for a second or so, but no more.
Here's the thing. If you're scared, your muscles will get very tense, it will be much more difficult to find a vein and it will much more painful. If you hold your breath, your muscles will also tense. So, you need to relax for this. You can use deep breathing to do this.
Breath in slowly, through your nose, to a slow count of 5. Then just as slowly, breath out through your barely-open mouth. Keep doing this as long as you need to. And you don't have to look.
For the rest of your life, there will be times that you will need to have blood drawn for various tests. Just keep these tips in mind and you won't have any problems.
BTW, Bloody Mary is WAY off the mark.

I have watched my grandson get blood taken. And I would not tell him nothing but the truth when it comes to questions. Surely certain questions at certain age appropriate. But Yes you will feel a sting or a pinch like feel. But it depends on the tech. 99.9 % of all blood taken you feel some little discomfort. But my dear I would not worry. It will be done and over before you know it. And you will ask your self what was I so worried for. Because in reality there is no pain at all just a little discomfort.

My step sister took me to get a drug test, I got a blood test with it. I had to leave the thing in for HOURS and get cold stuff injected into my blood. If it hurts for a bit remember how much I suffered and it will take the pain away. It does not hurt if you aren't nervous, it will feel "strange" though.
Yes your mommy can stay with you, you have nothing to worry about at all hun! ^_^

This might sound weird, but drawing blood with a needle doesn't hurt at all, but it stings when they prick your finger.

My seven year old had blood drawn from her arm and did not cry. Your mom can stay with you.
