Good bad? How are the live performances?

Absolutely fabulous! Have you ever done a cruise? It's great.
The main difference if you are picking b/t Carnival and Royal--is your age range. Carnival has more young kids, more families. Royal has more newlyweds, young couples.

Royal Carib is slightly nicer, elegant, classy and a lil more formal, but Carnival has more of a party style. Many singles and college students on spring break. I love them both--but I'd pick based on my itinerary. what islands would you like to see?

The performances vary based on ships. I've had some that were ok, some that were horrible, and some that were fabulous--but the cruise experience is so much more htan the performances.

Many of the shows are a Vegas style show. Usually one night will be a comedian. They usually have 2 shows--a clean show and a late night dirty show. If the performances really matter to you, many performers do a cruise now and you can find out if someone you really want to see will be on a cruise. I know Dave Matthews Band did a Fan Cruise one time.

I've never heard a bad word said about Royal Carib. (Though avoid Norweigan and Holland like the plague)

I had a wonderful experience with Royal Caribbean. Everything was great, including the live performances.
