i would like to see the u.s. take a much more even handed approach in the middle east. if they would quit supporting israel and it’s apartheid regime, and work towards setting a realistic peace process, and holding israel accountable for it’s wrongdoings, (i.e.-blowing up peoples homes, seizing land to set up settlements, rape and so on). you see, many arabs see the palestinian problem as the biggest issue in the middle east. and the relentless support for israel,( which the americans are getting nothing back, other than SPIES i.e. jonathan pollard). second, the middle east as a whole, the u.s. needs to stay the hell out of and we DEFINITELY need to change our foreign policies. because of our policies, we are creating the extremism in the middle east towards the west, where before was in very small numbers, and now is growing due the american operations in the middle east.

There is no ligitimate reason under the sun.To correct one statement I , read Israel receives in excess of 4 billion dollars a year ( your Dollars). Regretfully, we will not be able to resolve the Middle East problems on this forum but, perhaps we will be able to gain further insight as to the challenges.
First, be aware that the US has a significant Jewish population (heard once that New York City has more Jews than Israel). Remember too, that the US was the first nation to recognize the state of Israel. The US likes to root for the underdog (small Israel vs all the Arab nations). Recall that many of the Arab countries sympathized, supported or were associated with enemies of the US (Nazis & Communists).
Now, be aware that some in the US are beginning to ask about rights for Palestinians. Arabs are starting to get their message out. This may be due to the growing Arab civilian or student population. However, confusion is created when leaders say one thing & do the other.
In all bluntness, many Americans could care less about the world & would welcome isolation.

Why help them? Well, Israel is threatened by the country's surrounding it. In the past Israel was nearly destroyed by Syria. If if it wasn't for Nixon's mass shipment of weapons and tanks, Israel may not have been a country today. All though Egypt is now at peace with Israel, only open war is prevented. Terrorists and suicide bombers travel from Egypt into the holy lands. Today, Iran has repeatedly threatened to exterminate the Zionist nation and wipe Israel from the map once it gets nuclear weapons. The Iran president even denies the Holocaust and calls it a myth.The Palestinians have their friends. The US is Israel's main ally and without us, Israel would be alone in the world. They are the ones being attacked. They need our help.

Well, the Israelis have a pretty advanced R&D industry, something lacking in most M.E. countries. A lot of the founders were American, and then you also nave the Bible angle. Another thing, the US has a tradition of siding with the underdog. Your relatives are killing each other, no big deal there, but they are killing innocent women and children (how about that). They kill each other over religion...they still live in the 14th century. Most don't have an education, live in abject poverty, and act like animals. Do not listen to 'Gen' who is obviously an illiterate dumb red neck who is being brain washed by too much Fox News and CNN. We all know that israel with it's nuclear power is a real threat to world peace. They have been implementing apartheid and a regime of violence against the Palestinians for the past 3 years. This violent aparetheid and Israeli hatred of the palestinian people who are living in appaling circumstances, is the reason why we will never see lasting peace in then Middle East, and none of our leaders are addressing it. Instead they donate $40Million each year to the Israelis so they can top up their WMD's, weapoons and military force.

There are actually a couple of reasons that people have a tendency to lean toward Israel. Believe it or not, many Israelis came from the United States, especially in the beginning (Golda Meir was from New York, etc...). The other reason is that we are predominantly Christian. Scriptural references warn Christians not to forget Israel, warning of the nation's demise if they do. Now, personally, I respect anyone who respects me as a person. If I am despised I won't deal with that person. I don't get violent, I just don't get involved.

Well thats one opinion. Another wuld be how most of the Arab world seems to hate Israel and will say anything to see them gone. One thing you can say about Israel: they don't take our money and then burn U. S. pilots and drag them through the streets and hang them from bridges. They don't burn US flags and scream Death to America. They dont say theyre our allies then do everything they can to tear us down and divide us.

The sooner we get off our oil dependence, the sooner we don't have to listen to Arabs' opinions. They can be marginalized for the anti-semites they are.
