Didn't their mothers ever tell them not to play in the mud?

It only takes one bad driver for people to sterotype. Not all 4x4 drivers are inconsiderate. Many do give way. And for floods 4x4's are bigger so tend to make a bigger splash, however cars before them going at the same speed do not make the same splash. I take it you dont know many 4x4 drivers because if you did you would know they are normal people just like you. Yes there are some crazy drivers but not just 4x4 drivers many are in suped up cars trying to impress their mates

If you Have a 4x4 you do own the road, well that's what they think, total @rseholes who have no idea how to drive them, and if this government has done anything right, then making them pay extra road tax was a good move, they should also have to take a new test if they want to own one. i hate them and have had so may near misses with them, because they refuse to give way, even when its your right of way.
As for the drivers saying "I'm safer in a 4x4 " means f*** anyone else at least I'm safe !!!! Lets hope the fad soon dies.

Apparently they aren't offroaders, because as an offroader you learn to be considerate of other drivers especially those less fortunated to be driving a car or other 2WD vehicle. Either way I've seen some of these smaller vehicles cut in front of larger 4WD's and then wonder why they get ran over. Stop and think 4WD's weigh much more than your Yugo does and a truck can't stop on a dime. So think before you pull out in front of a larger vehicle than yours. But yes your right, there are a few people that drive like they own the road or they are the only person on the road. Which are the people that I charge $100 to them to pull their vehicle out of the ditch after they realize that driving 70MPH in snow and ice wasn't such a great idea after all.

There are a lot of bad drivers, they are not confined to 4x4s, it's just that when a large vehicle is getting too close, it tends to be more intimidating than a small one. Lorries have always had a reputation for pushing other motorists around.

You should see the bloody wankers driving them here in the States! Seem to think that you can run down a snow-covered road at 60 MPH just because they have 4-wheel drive. Seem to forget that the steering is just 2-wheels like everyone else.

most drivers don't adhere to the driving conditions of the road - when we had that bad spell of foggy weather cars were zooming past me without a care - and i don't think it matters what type of car their driving if their bad drivers their just bad
