A little water mixed with baking soda and very little lemon juice about 2 drops(it'll stain if you use a lot) and spray the area but do all that AFTER you use a regular carpet cleaner on the spot. The cleaner will clean it and the baking soda lemon mix will nuturealize the the spot so your dog doesn't keep peeing on it...carpet cleaner wont do that..not much will but that mix works good.

OXYClean Deep spot and stain carpet cleaner, available at your local wal-mart or grocery store. Using the OXY Clean, wet the spot on the carpet . Wet a towel with cold water, wring the water from the towel and put it over the wet spot on the carpet. Turn the towel the next day. You may have to do this a couple of time, but it is the easiest and best way to get the stain out.
Natures Miracle, for Petsmart, is the best product for treating pet odors in carpet, but doesn't remove stains.

take a coffee cup and fill it with 1/4 white vinegar and three forths warm water, cover the stain and let it soak in about five minutes. Then use paper towels or absorbent rags and soak up all the water mixture that you can. After that, spray the same area liberally with Resolve Tough Stain Remover for carpets.. Brush it in and let it sit a few minutes and soak up. Repeat the Resolve step if needed.

Actually, baby wipes does the trick! I just rub the spot in with baby wipes, and then I spray the same spot with Febreeze. You don't want to use anything too harsh or strong that will damage your carpet. I used to use soap, etc. and what I find is that you can always see the spot that's been wiped. Baby wipes does the trick. Believe me! I also use it on my car seats if I've ever spilled something or if my pup urines on my seat.

White Vinegar works wonders. I would also recommend baking soda, and tiny amount of dish soap, warm water, and peroxide. You may want to patch test this first to make sure it's safe to use on your carpet. Or you can go buy a commercial cleaner like UrineBGone.

'Spot Shot' They sell it at walmart for @$3/can. It's a blue aerosol can with an orange top. You barely have to scrub! I was a nanny for a family with a dog that peed inside - had to use it often!
Did you know you can also remove stains with Windex and also Vodka?! My parents kept a bottle of vodka under the sink just for cleaning spots!
