there are several movies where the person shoots a gun and it comes out the opposite way without them expecting it, causing them to commit suicide. in the movies, someone messes with the chamber of the gun or whatever. so i was wondering, is this really possible?? and how exactly does this work?? i was thinking maybe it is possible with older models but with technological advances i would assume this cant happen, but im not gun expert. any help is appreciated

No, it is not possible. The laws aof physics state that when there is an explosion, the pressure will be released through the easiest means of escape. In a firearm, that is out of the end of the barrel.

Now, if something is lodged in the barrel, it will either be blown out, or the end of the barrel will come apart. It will not reverse the path of the projectile.

Mythbusters did this experiment, and it actually took something substantial to blow up the end of the barrel of a firearm.

when a gun is made to fire a cartrige that doesnt fit the gun it may rupture the chamber, killing the shooter. this happens when +P cartriges are used in a firearm not meant to handle them. if there is a blockage in the barrel this can cause the barrel to rupture at that point, possibly killing the shooter. if a weapon is tampered with so that the spent shell casing moves backward instead of the bullet moving forward this can kill or maim the shooter. i could only see this happening in a bolt action rifle with parts modified so that the bolt doesnt lock into place and is forced rearward when the weapon is fired.

No matter what you do to a gun the bullet can only come out one way.....

So the barell of the gun HAS to be pointing at you for you to be shot by a gun (no matter what year it was produced)

The only way that would happen is if you were to be using a Polish Pistol ( Its a joke-see link )...although if a barrel is blocked, it could explode in your face

All I'm going to say is that it IS possible to do this, technically speaking, but with the astounding number of dumb*sses on Yahoo, I won't give out any details.

Such knowledge in the hands of an idiot can only lead to trouble.

If you block the barrel, the gun will backfire.
