how can you fine about your family tree?

my kid's school have an native american class. you must be of native american dasent to go. i know i have some in my blood & so dose my hubbie, but you have to fill in a family tree to prove it! how can i find this information out? thank you for your help. :)

there are 2 websites i use for working on my tree. try rootsweb.com and genforum.com. in rootsweb you can type in the last name and if anyone has done research and entered it on that site, it will appear. and it's free. on the genforum site are thousands of message boards. again it's free. also, you might try on any search engine typing in genealogy native american and see what comes up. it may be tough to do, from what i've heard regarding native american ancestry, because record keeping was not common. good luck with your search. if nothing else, it will be a great project to work on with your daughter.

The internet is an amazing place...

First talk to your parents or grandparents to find out about maiden names' etc and where they lived, then search the internet and keep following leads....
