One of my friends( whom I am not that close with, but she is still a friend) is going out with this boy. She was not liking how things were going with him and dumped him. I think this boy and I are really close and I was wondering if it was alright if I went out with him- if the situation ever came up. I would like to, but I do not want any drama or bitter feelings. What do you think about the situation and what should I say to my friend if the situation comes up. I would ask her first, defintely, but is there anything else or any precautions I should know? I would like to know from anyone but if you have been in this situation, could you tell me how you felt and what you think I should do. I don't want any MAJOR drama or bitterness. Thanks!

I am sorry if I didn't really specify- but my friend (girl) is dating this boy. I am a girl and are friends with the girl dating the boy. I like the boy and may like to date him- but nothing is worth more than friendship to me. On the other hand, This boy and I are pretty close and really alike.

I'm not going to tell you to dismiss the idea of dating her completely...because you deserve to be happy too. All I would say is to be careful...because you are dealing with more than one person's emotions.

Definitely talk to your friend about it. If you think this girl is worth whatever may happen...then go for it!

You could talk to your friend about it but chances are, deep down inside she may feel some type of way about it. You should never really date an ex of a friend. There may be some bitterness and you don't want to take the chance of losing a friend.

If you don't want "major drama or bitterness" then I would suggest that you don't date him or even bring up the subject. Even if your friend doesn't outright say that it will hurt the freindship, it will. You need to chose, your friend or the guy. In my experience, men come and to, but friends are forever. At least this girl will be, unless you decide to hurt her....

No because even if your friend says its ok, it will still cause awkwardness between yall when the EX comes up.

ooooh! i luv this question! but u may not like my answer. i 'll let u know right up front, i don't do that rules crap! lots of ppl say u can't date ur friend's x, it's disloyal or whatever. i say, if she dumped him, she obviously doesn't like him. so she shouldn't get all mad. if anything, you should be mad that she's mad at you, when she's the one who didn't like him anymore. so...
if u really like him, definetly

No way, if she isn't good enough for my friends to keep, then she is just leftovers. Who wants left overs? Not me.
