Do you have a small yard/big yard? I made a "dig box" for my dogs. All you do is make a sandbox as you would for a child and fill it with dirt. THEN... the fun part, at least it was for me.. I bury good stuff in the box! I put toys, bones, balls, etc. in their box. Hiding things in "their" box gets them to dig in "their" special area. I always keep them out of view when I hide the stuff. The minute they are out they head for their own special dig spot and start digging. It great fun for them and it keeps them out of my flower bed!

If he is an outside dog, there really isn't much you CAN do short of giving him something to do when he's bored, like chew toys, human interaction, or another dog to play with. Dogs get bored just like people and digging is one of the things they do to occupy their time.

He probably needs more exercise and more attention. Another thing is that some dogs just do that. I would check the website someone listed.

my chihuahua used to do the same thing i would go outside with it everysingle time i let it out and it didnt dig a hole i would reward it and if i did dig a hole i wouldnt really hit it i would tap it on the nose then put the dog in its cage it worked for me

HA HA HA -- when you can figure that one out, give us all the details. Those breeds dig - period. They also like to jump -- over fences.

You put your dogs poop in the hole it dug and bury it. I know that sounds crazy but it does work!
