"I guarantee if some thunderous voice from the sky told me to specifically not eat from the tree I would not have, nor would I have listened to a woman or talking snake (is there a difference?) about eating an apple."
That's stereotyping humans right there (talking snake reference...lol)
You know what? They had to fulfill the first commandment of multiplying and replenishing the Earth. They had to do it, or you and I wouldn't be here to be arguing over this point in the first place. And as Article of Faith 2 states, "We believe that men will be punished for their own sins and not for Adam's transgression." If you don't think so, maybe you should investigate our church... OK, you don't sound like you would be very interested based on the aggressive tone of your question, I was kidding anyway...
Anyway, it isn't all that stupid... Anything that permitted mankind to live can't be stupid, to me...
And as someone said, Jesus paid the price for our sins at the Atonement. All we need to do is repent and we are forgiven. We aren't punished for Adam and Eve's sins, we are punished for our own. They were blamed for their sin and their punishment was to become mortal and have to work for everything they had. We are punished for our sins, they were for their's - that's how it works.
And to emucompboy... the tree was there, it was an intentional part of the plan. That's how it works.

Paying the price? What by being born??
We are responsible for our own sins and not for Adam or Eve's transgression.
"I guarantee if some thunderous voice from the sky told me to specifically not eat from the tree I would not have, nor would I have listened to a woman or talking snake (is there a difference?) about eating an apple"
Yeah, hind-sight is 20/20 isn't it...that's like claiming you are perfect. None of us are free from temptation silly.

Adam and Eve were innocent and were very much like children. If you tell a child "Don't eat this Candy... you can have all of the vegetables on the table, but whatever you do, do not eat this candy". A small child will of course go against that since they lack will power and a strong conscience. Adam and Eve didn't really have anyone to look up to or learn mistakes from, so they did what anyone would do is eat the candy, or "forbidden fruit". It is human nature.
God did not want us to be like puppets, instead, he wanted us to make decisions, good or bad so we could learn from them. By not doing this, he had no way to determine if Adam and Eve would follow God because they wanted to, or because he ordered them to.

Really? You would not have eaten from the tree? The tree was placed in the garden so that humans would have free will. prior to the tree, there was nothing that Adam or Eve could do wrong, and thus, they had no choice but to follow God. By placing the tree in the garden, God gave them a choice, to live by God's guidance and live forever or to choose for themselves what was right and wrong and eventually die. It was Eve who was deceived (the bible says that Adam was not deceived but ate because his wife had)
They made a choice- they wanted to live without God's guidance... and we have, for a very long time now, lived by our own guidance and looking around at the world- we are not doing a very good job of things without God. (it is ok- God promises to step in before it is too late and "bring to ruin those ruining the earth" and those who want to live by God's guidance will survive Armageddon :)
So we have the same choice that Adam and Eve had. Follow God's guidance and live or do it our own way and die.
Are you choosing any different than Adam and Eve did?
I am.

You may say " Come on, shut up because I was asking Christians only".
However, here is my reply o your question:
" Original Sin: Muslim do not believe in original sin. - Islam teaches that every human being is born pure and sinless with no baggage from the past (from prophet Adam or any other grand----grand-parents). Every newborn is considered Muslim and sinless until he reaches the age of accountability (puberty) and accepts other paths. Therefore we have already paid for Adam (pbuh) and Eve disobedience by moving from heaven to earth. There is no other burden of sin on anyone because of Adam's disobedience. Just worry about your own disobedience in this world. You will be accountable for what you do yourtself. But God the Almighty is the Most Merciful and the the Most Compassionate if you repent on your wrong doings. And that is between you only and Him."

Your post will get both good and bad replies...be ready...
As a spiritual advisor, I counsel people to know what is right and what is wrong between them and God...not to think that someone else's interpretation or sin counts against them...I have been asked this numerous times..
You have a very bold attitude about your thoughts.....and that's ok....just watch how you say things...lol... I would not have listened to a talking snake either, but I am a woman....I don't think of myself as a snake...God DID create stuff left and right and no we shouldn't "mess" with him......we should never down his abilities and the mighty power he has.....so to finalize my long drawn-out answer, I don't feel guilty for Adam and Eve's sins....I feel guilty for my own....
Blessed be....

1. It sort of makes you wonder why the Tree was in the Garden of Eden in the first place, doesn't it? After Adam and Eve were kicked out of the Garden, angels were set in place to keep them out. Why weren't the angels guarding the Tree in the first place to keep Eve from eating the fruit?
2. Once you learn agriculture, you probably won't go back to hunter-gatherer culture.

How are you paying the price? As I know, only Jesus paid the price for all who believe. Why do you read the Bible if you don't want to believe. God will judge us on what we know and it seems like the atheist and KKK and anyone who is against the righteousness of God know more than the average Christian. So does that mean they will be judged the worst?(things that make ya go hmmmmm!)

How many times as a kid did your parents tell you not to do something and you did it anyway? It is basically the same thing...God wasn't a "thunderous voice from the sky" it says that he walked with them in the Garden.
We are all tempted by something...their temptation was the "apple"...but today our temptations abound...sometimes we fight the temptations and sometimes we give in to em.
I don't believe that we are being blamed but I do believe that the "rebellious nature" that they displayed has been passed on to us.

What, exactly, do you tell the policeman when he stops you and you knew you were going 70 in a 65 zone.
When God asked Adam why he ate the apple Adam said:
The woman YOU MADE FOR ME told me to do it.
When God asked Eve, she said: The Serpent said it was good and told me to do it.
Now, what are you going to tell the Policeman when he asks "Do you know why I pulled you over."
Man got thrown out of the Eden because God Didn't like the smell of skunks and didn't think weasles in the garden were a very good idea.
Now, WHAT are you going to tell the policeman. You saw the speedometer. So did he.
You going to give him a weasle's story that stinks to high heaven or you going to take responsiblity for your actions.
