How about Facts on the Madone:

TREK is family owned and operated... Not corperate - they answer straight to the consumer, not a Bean Counter!

Also you want to check the Warranty Coverage - I can tell you that Trek has:

Lifetime Warranty on the Frame - and you don't have to wait for it to come in from China!

Bontrager Components - unprecidented FIVE year warranty for everything Bontrager, Wheels, Bars, Stems, etc.

Shimano Drive Train Components are TWO years Durace is THREE years, Sram Family of products - AVID, TRUVATIVE, ROCK SHOX, SRAM are two years as well.

I hope this helps you - No matter what you buy, ALWAYS check the warranty policy!

They also have a VERY GOOD Crash Replacment Policy - Who else has that!?! You basically pay a silly low price to get a new frame - it works out to be equal to an industry employee purchase, which is a whole lot better than FULL RETAIL!

The only bad thing I hear about Trek is that everybody has one - if that is you, I would encourage you to check out The Project
One website - they are doing $99 custom paint jobs right now!

The ride of the Madone is super compared to others around the same price - Look at the 2007 Madone 5.0, it has FULL Ultegra Group.

I've been in bikes 21 years, The Madone WILL REPLACE the most successful selling road bike in history, THE 5200...

Now that you know the FACTS - I hope it's easier for you to make your decision.

***** SARCASTICJRK - Is your definition of, "Wimpy" = Tour de France proven? Leave the biking questions up to the ones who have been to school for cycling - I'm now going UCI, how 'bout you?

Madones 5.2 is one of the most versatile road bikes around. It sprints, climbs great and its very fast on flat ground. The 5.2 is basically the 5200 but with a madone frame built with 110 OCLV, which is an upgrade from its peloton late cousin; the 5200 120 OCLV. But for its price tag of $3,700 I would rather buy the Fuji Pro Team. The Fuji has the same components (Ultegra mixed) and its $1000 cheaper ($2,700). Being a Lance fan is one thing but paying to be a fan is ridiculous. Don't miss judge me ... Its a great bike, but $3700 for ultegra its a bit too much. My madone 5.9 had a price tag of $4,499 back in 2004 with Dura Ace and its the same frame.

A very good all round mass producted bike. Worthy of hanging in an art gallery. A good rider will appreciate owning one of these.

If your not a really good competitive rider you probably won't notice much difference to a bike costing less than half one of these.

Wasted on many a latte sipping trendy .

Very very expensive ride. A buddy of mine has one and we ride together. I've ridden his and can't really tell much of a difference between his Trek and my Motobecane. My seat seems to be more comfortable but it is probably from the $1000 extra I have in my wallet.

Wimpy, overpriced, boring. You're better off with a Cervelo.
