I am doing an egg drop contest and can't think of any ideas to keep it from breaking. Any ideas would be greatly appricated. I am not allowed to use foam or styrofoam.

build kind of a round frame. Like a ball. suspend the egg in the middle. Use something that won't give too much when it hits the ground. It's kind of hard to explain exactly, but that's what I did and it worked.

How about a large container of water i.e " a bucket or a barrel" as the egg is hydrodynamic and water is 5 times denser than air it will de-accelorate at a great rate stopping the egg from breaking and yoou should be able to drop it from about 15ft into a bucket, but you have to be accurate other wise splat on the ground.

failling this! attach an action man parasuit to it and watch it fall slowly toi the ground hope this helps.....

Ok, here's what I did that worked, but you have to be extremely careful with this or you will end up with a huge mess.

I got a 1 quart heavy duty pain can. I filled it with a heavy motor oil. I added the egg. I made sure the lid was on very tight. Wrapped it a few times with duct tape to make sure the lid did not come off when it landed.

Have fun and good luck.

Take an empty coffee can, and stuff it with cloth. In the middle put the egg. Then take a box and fill it halfway with sand, put the can in the sand and fill the box the rest of the way.

I did an egg drop experiment when I was 14. I took some eggs up onto the roof of the warehouse building that our apartment was in. I waited for my younger brother to come strolling down the sidewalk. I thought that because his hair was so thick that the eggs wouldn't break. WRONG!!
I don't know what else to tell you, except perhaps if you're tempted to repeat my experiment, don't do it at your own building. Suspicion falls to close to home. Do it some place else.

consruct your own egg using plastic so that it does not crack easily, but don"t be caught as u could be disqualified if there are actually rules in this contest of your imagination. keep trying.

Hey think for yourself! I did it when I was in High School, use your brain and stop cheating! Jeez I wonder how it will be when you get out of school, always asking for help instead of coming up with answers?
