I have my doubts about God, but I also have no alternative to explain life. It seems absurd to believe a cell "evolved" through random processes. What should I do?

Of course you have no alternative to explain life - nobody has anything to explain life except ideas and theories. Those who can't bear to face the unknown have no choice but to take one of these idea's and run with it. You have three choices here - choose god (under whatever religion you wish), choose evolution, or you can keep your mind open to any possibility. I choose C, because anything is possible.

For some reason religious people have a difficult time understanding why atheists would even get up in the morning, as if life isn't worth living without a god.
Life is a miracle, and because of this you should stop thinking about it and start enjoying it. It might be a miracle of God, or it might be a Miracle of chance and science, but no matter how you look at not enough people appreciate being apart of it.

Cheers

P.S. I have read the bible and can't understand why people think it will help, I found it pretty far fetched and contradictory right from the start, with everything told 'because it is' with no useful explanations.

First it's not random processes alone. It's random process with natural selection. Why does it seem absurd? The weak die, the strong live on and pass on their genes. The resulting generation is stronger than the one before. Do that for 3 billion years and you have a cell evolving into a human. Why is that absurd? Amazing, but not absurd.

Second, you don't need to explain life. You just live it. It's ok to live with the unknown. Just because we don't understand it does not mean we should invent god to fill the gaps.

Well, I think it's absurd that everything, including the trillions of cells in a human, are the product of a single guy. Even fetuses develop from TWO, not one.
But....there are a lot of creation stories and religions/philosophies-all kinds of ideas; Gnosticism believes the description of God was distorted through time...lots of ideas if you look at the different religions as educated guesses/philosophies with different ideas you agree with, some you might not, not a 'if one thing is wrong, it all is!' they're ideas, not evil mind controling whispers from an imaginary demon

1. Accept evidence and logic. Evolution happens. Even the Pope says so.

2. Read the wikipedia article on "Pascal's Wager" and find a way to believe in God.

It's evolution.

It's not "random", it's not survival of the "strongest", it's "survival of the "FITTEST".

Fitness is defined as your ability to pass on your genes. Organisms can be extremely "fit", and yet small, weak, etc.

(just a couple of major misconceptions the general public has about evolution)

Everyone has doubts.

I CHOOSE to believe in God. I CHOOSE to accept His Son. I CHOOSE to abide in the Word, I CHOOSE to seek the Truth in Scripture.

The Bible talks about your situation. It's called being "double minded".

You won't figure it out. You can't rationalize. You CHOOSE.

If you choose Christ, then all your questions will be answered, because His Spirit will come into you (yes, He does!!) and things will become clear, where before they were foggy.

I used to doubt. Filled with turmoil and uncertainty. Then I made the choice, and God took care of the rest.

Actually crack open a science book and find out why it isn't absurd that life evolved. Here's some websites to get you started. http://science.howstuffworks.com/evolution.htm/printable

Oh yes, and any book by Richard Dawkins.

Don't speculate on something you have no evidence for. There's nothing wrong with simply accepting life for what it is without seeking some deeper meaning.
