Honey comes from Old English/Frisian 'honig', which comes from Old Teutonic 'hunago'. The earliest recorded bit of it is from 875! So we've been calling it that over 1150 years!
Bee is from Old Teutonic (Norse/German), possibly going all the way back to Central Asian 'bhi' meaning 'quivering fear' and 'buzzing or humming.' The earliest English use is Old English from about 1000.

Well "honey" kind of flows out of your mouth like syrup when you say it, doesn't it? Just the perfect kind of word for that sugary treat.
And I'm thinking "bee" is an onomatopoeia. It's a word that is what it sounds like. Bees buzz around but it sounds like it could've been interpreted as "beeeeee" instead of "buzzzz" right?
