Here it is. We all know that we have a physical body. We touch it everyday. We all know that there is an energy that moves this body in every way. Walking talking, thinking, running laughing, eating, feeling, and anything that one can imagine one can do, or not do for that matter. You can call the energy anything you like. Some call it God, while others call it Allah, or Jehova, Budda, the soul, or the spirit etc etc etc. We all know that someone or something created all things.
Let's look at this in computer terms. Let's say that the physical body is the hardware, and the energy is the software. we know that if a piece of hardware has no software to run it what good is the hardware? In other words, if the body lost its software it will not work. We call it death. Everything imaginable was created by the software writer. Everything comprehendable is part of the software that moves the hardware. So do we really have free will? Do we really make choices?

Are you a cylon? Do we download into new bodies when we die? How knows. Maybe we're just self-aware machines.

The short answer is: Yes; we really are just computers. The software consists of a firmware boot loader (knowing how to suckle, excrete, and accept sensory input), plus all of the data input from birth on. One part of the boot-up process is learning how to merge the vision of the two eyes; this is done in a piece of the brain called the visual cortex, which is a programmable logic array; the array elements are neurons rather than fuses (as would be used by an electronics engineer), and the neurons not used get killed off (just like blowing fuses). An electronics engineer designing a circuit to merge two camera images would use much the same technology.
As for free will, technically there is no such thing. In principle, if one knew the entire environment at a decision point, including all the data that the decider had acquired over a lifetime, one could compute what the decision would be. But this is, of course, impossible, and a free will model works well at describing the real world.
There is, as you may have inferred from the foregoing, no need to posit some sort of supernatural intervention in any part of this process. Evolution explains the whole thing.

No, we don't really have free will, and we don't really have choices.
I can run with this analogy.
Everything about us comes from the brain. When we are born, heredity has determined what sort of brain we have. Everything that happens after our birth (and maybe even while in the womb) affects our brain too. Everything we see, hear, feel, learn, etc. It is very much like being born with a new hard-drive, with the operating system installed, and everything after that is either writing or deleting to the hard drive (memory). I see the software as programs that are installed or uninstalled as required. Some scripts are malicious, and do damage, not to the brain itself (hard drive) but to the ability of the brain to function properly (psychological disorders). Some programs are really useful and used often, and some enable us to communicate better with others. You are right, every choice that we think we have made could be predicted by an outside observer, provided that the observer is familiar enough with the way your mind works to predict what we will do in any given situation. When we say to someone, "I knew you would say that" or "That's what I thought you'd do", we are not claiming to be psychic. We are saying that we know how someone responds in various situations, and those responses are determined by nature and nurture (environment).
So no, no free will. Not really. Given the way my mind works, it was inevitable that I would turn out exactly as I have, exactly where I am.

It's not so far from wrong.
Ok. Think of the Spirit as a power supply. It can run tons of motherboards and drives. You can put the same power supply in hundreds of computers.
The spirit don't die.
Ok.. The Soul is the Hard drive. It records everything over and over again and everything on it can be reclaimed.
The soul is the knowledge of life.
Ok The body is the comp case.
It's trashable
Mouse Keyboard Cam and Mic are the body's senses.
So when Religions tie you up on line and take control of your hard drive (hackers or viruses= religion) Then it belongs to them and your screwed.
There you go.

You are the hardware, software, electricity and the software program writer, and the computer user.
You have the body, spirit, energy, part of God with you, and you can choose how to run the program.

There's no mysterious energy - if you want to call it God conducting the nerve impulses in your brain fine - but to be consistent you'll have to say 'honey turn the lamp on with God' or take your kids to see the God factory that powers the TV and microwave.
So what if we are machines? Machines way one day supplant us in less we're careful. I don't define myself with mystical nonsense. We're rooted in the physical, there's nothing wrong with that.
Yes we have free will - what could possibly make you think we don't - do you feel you were forced to ask the question? What could that even mean?

We are simply biological machines with computing functions. We do not have free will.
