the other day my brother and i got in some trouble well anyway we both got sent to our room. my brother is only 9 and when my dad got home i heard through the wall that my brother was getting spanked.
about 10 minutes later my dad came in and told me that i am getting spanked too. i tried to get out of there but he spanked me like i was 9. i'm 14 and too big for this. he even did it on my bare butt. how do i tell my parents i am too big for this.

As a parent, I'm telling you you are NOT too old too be punished by spanking. In fact, you are old enough to know better not to get in trouble. You should already know what your limits are and be
setting an example for your younger brother.
BTW, if my child was so disrespectful as too bring up the issue that he thinks he's too old to be disciplined, that spanking you got would be mild compared to the punishment my child would get.
You owe your parents the respect of behaving appropriately.

If you are a girl the spanking on the bare butt is NOT ok. If you are a boy the spanking on the bare butt is weird, but probably more humiliating than anything else. Tell your mum to talk to your dad and tell him not to do that again, it's wrong. I don't see any need for the pants down thing. God bless you and your brother.

When everyone is calm and no longer mad, you might find a way to have a mature conversation on the subject. Be prepared with your facts and resources...do some research. Most parents will have a discussion with a 14 year old even though they may not change their minds. Healthy dialogue is always good to build a relationship as you head down those pesky drving, dating, college years. I don't know what you did but I bet you don't do it again. I guess the spanking was effective!

By not doing stupid crap that will get you spanked.
Ok that was a little harsh. You probably are too old to be spanked. But it has probably been a pretty affective disciplinary method for your folks.
Sit your parents down, have a frank conversation with them - I think I'm too old to be spanked - lets talk about other forms of discipline. Act like the adult you want to be treated like. Don't get angry and don't storm out of the room if the conversation doesn't go the way you want (in other words don't act like a typical 14 year old). Ask if you can revisit this topic in a few months.

What is worse, being spanked or getting grounded for 2 weeks to a month? When your parents cool off and you still think spanking is worse then say being grounded, then ask them if they would be willing to give you the choice. Then when the DO give you the choice dont lay around whining about it. Until you learn to follow their rules there will be some kind of punishment. If you whine about being grounded (or some other kind of punishment) then you do deserve to be spanked.

It's possible your parents are very old fashioned; but yes; you both I think are too old for spanking. I've heard of grounding and all of that. Just come out and tell them; they might not realize that the "punishment" doesn't fit the "crime". Go figure. If they choose still that type of punishment; then there's your answer. Unfortunately your the child in their house with their rules. Good luck and grab some ice!

unfortunately it sounds more of an anger problem on your dad's side than you getting punished. my sister and i are 6 years apart and when i was younger i can remember getting a bit of the after affects of her punishment.
i would definately wait it out until everyone is at a point where you can talk sensibly without getting into a heated argument.
tell them both, i understand being punished and all because of something i knew i shouldn't have done. but i am not a child anymore and do not believe that i should be being punished as one. let them know that it doesn't make you feel like your being punished it makes you feel ashamed and hurt. maybe they will realize what this actually does to your since of pride and they will quit.

You are a girl (based on your name) and your dad spanked you on your naked butt when you are the age that you've probably already gone through puberty? Thats sick. Talk to your mom about it and a trusted adult such as a teacher if you need to.

No one is too old or big to be punished. That is why there is police, jail, and lawyers.
It is true that parents sometimes will treat you as younger (even adults feel that sometimes), but only way to get them to treat you as older is to act responsibly. If you are consistently responsible then they will treat you as such.

as long as you live in your parents home and are under 18 you are not too big to be punished. HOWEVER, you are to big to be spanked on a bare bottom. Through the clothes is sufficient.
Be glad you have parents who love you enough to punish you. TO care about what your doing and protect you.
