Yes, Windows MovieMaker can prepare video for DVD. Of course you will need a computer with DVD write capability. Be sure you have enough room on your hard-drive to handle all the temp files and completed presentation. Your video segment(s) should not be longer than the DVD onto which you intend to write - if so you will get a warning message.
It works, but takes a long time to set-up and burn to DVD.

The burning software I like the most is Ashampoo Burning. It's 100% free and can be downloaded here: http://bitly.com/1lAVsbG

A burning software is a tool that you need to create new CDs and DVDs. To make them working properly you need to burn them with a good software. Ashampoo is a very modern and reliable software that I recommend. It has plenty of other functions (e.g. you can edit videos and create DVD menus)

Windows Movie Maker can put the movie on DVD if you save the movie and then load it onto dvd creator software (Sonic MyDVD, Roxio DVD Creator). I would although recomend using Windows DVD Maker on Windows Vista once it's available instead of Windows Movie Maker.

Movie DVDs has a special file system. So you have to use a Movie DVD making program to for this task. Try to use AVS Video Converter from AVS Video Tools http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/avs-video-tools.htm

It is very simple with this tool

- download, install and run the program
- open a file or file you want to burn
- click “To DVD” button
- click “Convert Now”

After conversion is finished, it will ask you to insert a blank DVD.

I think that AVS Video Converter is the best. It supports virtually all video formats and has buil-in DVD, VCD burning engine.

I've tried to do this over and over again myself, but with no luck. I honestly don't think there is a way to directly burn your film onto a DVD. If you get a good answer here, I'll be happy to read it too.

I use it to combine short movies from my camera.
Then you have to use a dvd burner to transfer to a dvd.
