I have a couple of neighbors that let their dogs run free and they all seem to like using my yard to do their business. It's really gross to go outside and see big piles of dog poop everywhere. I'm sick of cleaning it up everyday. I have talked to the dog owners only to be told oh well, if I don't like it to move beacuse they are not going to pin up their dogs. I need HELP!

I can't put up an electric fence I've been told it's illegal and I've checked about an ordenance there isn't one for where I live. I am waiting for a permit to put up my fence. What can I do til then. I need HELP!

In the county I live in it is illegal to shoot an animal unless it attacks you or it is running cattle, goats, etc. I have called our local dog warden, but he wants me to catch the daog and take it to the nearest shelter 2 hrs away. Police won't do anything because they don't like us, the neighbors call on us all the time beacause we throw fire crackers at the dos when we catch them in our yard, but we can't do that when we're asleep.

Document and file an animal waste complaint. You might also want to mention, while you're burning bridges with your neighbors (which I'd totally give you a high 5 for), that their dogs are left to roam free all day long. Most likely your city has a leash law.

I have a neighbor just like this. She decided that after I'd returned the poo to her doorstep several times that she'd be better off picking up after her animals.

First off, most towns have what is called a "Leash Law". Dogs cannot be running all over the neighborhood if not on a leash accompanied by its owner. I would polietly tell your neighbor that if he continues to let his dogs run free, then you will call the dog pound.

Another thing that you can do is this: I know this sounds gross, but it works for other animals, such as deer or rodents -- take a coffee can and pee into it and spread it over your yard. The urine from us acts like a barrier to animals and may keep them out of your yard for a while, but if it rains, then you will have to redo it.

Try those 2 things and see if it works. Good luck.

I would casually haul the dogs off to a pound somewhere in another town. I live in the country and the police pretty much told me if there is a dog on my property I have every right to kill it. So there are your two options. If you have told your neighbors and they have that attitude then if you haul their dogs to the pound it was their fault for not listening to you. Or I guess you can go poop in their yard and see how they like it. I would go with my first suggestion though. The cops may not take so kindly to the second one. LOL

First, I would check out your local ordinances to see if there is a leash law in your area, and if not you may be able to petition to have one put in. Also, you could call your local Animal Control or Police when they are out, especially because most places have ordinances against animals that are destructive to property (if they are going to the bathroom in your yard they are damaging your grass), they owners would then receive a fine for the dogs causing damage and have to replace anything that they dogs damaged.

Second, I would try sprinkling cayenne pepper in the area where they are going to the bathroom, the only bad part is that you will have to reapply every time it rains. You could also try a BB gun with rubber BBs and shoot it (not at them, you just want to scare them) when you catch them going to the bathroom or even being in your yard. The sound will scare them bad enough to make them not want to come back.

Well some of the people above me can't read, as they would know you don't have your fence up right now and can't put up a electric fence. You pretty much have to wait it out, you could pick up the feces and give it to the neighbor. But in my view I would get the morning edition under my arm, walk over to the neighbors yard in my bath robe. Cop a squat and lay a corn eyed brown trout on their front lawn, when they complain just say if they don't like it just move. It would be good to get all your friends to do it to. Remember "Love Thy Neighbor", unless he's a A**Ho**!!!!!

Most communities have laws about dogs not on leashes, call your county animal control office. Otherwise a big pit bull will not only keep dogs out, also small children and smarty dog owners too.By the way if you are picking the mess up anyway why not return it to the original owner?

call animal control. by law they are not allowed to let their dogs run free. they must keep them fenced in or on a leash. it is not your fault that they have dogs and will not buy a fence. you should not have to move or deal with this because they chose to buy a dog. i have four dogs and we built a fence when we got our first one so that they would not wander into the neighbors yard.

Call the authorities!! After a few tickets, bet they will start caring. Until then, start throwing the poop back into their yards. Be careful they don't retaliate against your animals / family -- keep really good notes.

Aren't there any ordinances in your community about dogs? Where I live (which is not even in a town) there is a law against letting dogs run free. Check it out.
