A piece of stock in something you know he really enjoys. For example, if he loves Starbuck's coffee, get him stock in the company. It matures over the years, like you hope and pray your son will. Happy Birthday to you to parents..

Depending on when it is, how about sporting event tickets...or tickets to a concert of his favorite group. Throw in a gift card
for a favorite restaurant (a chain's card would probably be easier to buy). If you have any of his friend's/girlfriend's phone numbers maybe they can help you put it together.
