Sometimes,a dog will never accept another dog.I had one like that years ago and had to keep them seperated.

First, is your dog well socialized and dog friendly. If so, you just need to introduce them a little better. If your dog is not dog friendly, it's going to take a lot more effort - you know your dog best.

What you can try is to put up a baby gate and have them in separate rooms but so they can see, and most importantly to a dog, smell each other. When your dog seems calm about this (and do not rush the process), that's the time to let them in the same room - supervised.

Are these dogs the same sex? If so, that might cause a problem. Also, if your dog's an unaltered male, that could also be causing a problem.

your 2 year old may need socializing more. Perhaps you can arrange to walk him/her a few times a week with the breeder and your prospective new Goldie, in the hope they will begin to be friends, take your 2 year old around to her place, then have the Goldie around to visit you , slowly they might grow to like each other. Perhaps have different sex dogs - that will be easier than 2 boys, for sure. good luck xx

You cannot MAKE him like the new puppy. It is like saying that you WILL like me without even getting to know me. It will just take time for the puppy to 'grow' on him. He is also probably jealous -- mom got a 'replacement' in his eyes. Just love them both and try to get them to play together (supervised, so no fighting). Good Luck.

just keep you dog undercontrol when around the golden(example keep all your dog's legs under control, and keep it's mouth covered) and just let it sniff the puppy.
