Research is good, but nothing beats real-life experience. Try to find a mentor in your area who can give you advice and offer you experience--maybe a veterinarian or owner of a local kennel/boarding/day care business.

As far as college courses-you will definitely want to take some basic zoology or animal behavior courses, but make sure to take some economics and business management courses (to help you learn how to run an effective business) as well as some psychology courses since a big part of your business will be dealing with the human owners of the animals.

Good luck!

my suggestion to you is to read every book you can get your hands on. (ian dunbar and jean donaldson's books are great! and fun to read!) volunteer when you can, shelters might have age limits, but when you are old enough go walk dogs at a local shelter. when it comes time for college, maybe look into a degree in animal behavior. this will be very important if you want to run a safe and successful daycare. business courses would also be a good bet so you can run the place all on your own! also, maybe you could get a job at a daycare in a few years and see how you like it! would be a great part time job for a high school student who knows how to handle dogs. best of luck!

Sounds great. As long as you like doing it, then go for it. Find a college/university that has a sort of veterinary or animal husbandry major and courses.

Well i'm not exactly sure what you have to take to open up a shop. But I think you have to biology and math in college.

if that is what you want-go for it. Right now volunteer or try to work for a animal shelter or animal hospital.
