They consider it NOT medically necessary if ur over 18.. and medicare doesn't pay either.. I have a major tooth infection now and it will take me $200 to go the dentist to get antibiotics (they ALWAYS have to run x rays.) I had to have dental surgery and it was $1200 for 1 tooth.. tht's 2 months ss check... they don't care.. I would suggest to go to a dental school and have it done for free. Our nearest one is 2 hours and they only take the first 10 people or so so good luck..U may be able to find a free health clinic thru a church or city that may do it but they won't here because I have medicare/med. (even though it's not covered)..

most dentist do not take medicaid because they can make more money from patients that are insured or are paying cash. By taking medicaid patients they have to take what medicaid deems as an appropriate payment and it is way less than what they can get from others. It is all about they money.

You can get help, but first you have to find the dentist who is a provider, or accepts payment from your Medicaid insurance. Call SSI or a dental referral office in your area and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

you have to shop around for a dentist that will accept Medicaid coverage. It doesn't even begin to cover his charge.
