Pure white Akita's, like Shiba's, carry genetic problems and that is why they are not acceptable in the ring. Any breeder that breeds them is doing it for money and is not a good breeder because these dogs carry genetic problems to the puppies. Do a little research before you take this plunge. In japan a white puppy takes its last breathe in the whelping box. They do pop up but no one plans to breed them. Here, if they do get one they spay it asap so it does not pass along the genetic faults.

Buying an Akita, you need to be doubly sure that it is well bred & has come from health tested parents & a reputable breeder. Colour is the last thing you should be considering (and to the poster who was talking rubbish, there is nothing wrong with a well bred white Akita - please read the breed standard before making such statements)
Contact the Akita Association for names of reputable breeders around London. I hope you have done your research on the breed, they are not for everyone.
