What does it feel like to have the holy spirit while one is in spirit. I heard that it feels like fire, some say it feels gentle, The reason I want to know is because I have been praying to have the holy spirit, and speakin tongues.

You are not to ask for these things. The angel of darkness can come disguised as the angel of light. The Spirit goes where it wills. Speaking in tongues as some churches do is not the real thing. If you are a fundamentalist, just read your bible, pray and spend some time alone with God in nature. Do not ask for the gift of the Spirit. We are not to do that for our own gratification.

Forget the "tongues"... that has nothing to do with being of The True Christian Faith... as for "getting The Spirit"... God deals with each one individualy... The so-called Spirit experience...the whooping and holler'n and fall'n down shaking bit... is not the norm by a long shot...I am not saying I did not "fall down once".. Here is a link to a page on my web site about the Holy Spirit... it is not that long and might be helpful to you...you will find the story of myu "falling down" there as well..

I know when I am filled with the holy spirit because I become very relaxed and full of an unexplainable Joy. I just want to laugh, I am so happy and calm. It is amazing! I feel blessed to even get to expirience such an amazing gift.
Speaking in tounges is the most given gift, but it might not be for you. I don't have that gift, seek gods gift for you and I am sure you will find it.

The Holy Spirit breathes wherever it pleases (John 3:8). Before we can become a dwelling place of the spirit we need to purify ourselves of all mortal passions, such as love of food, sensuality, love of money and material property, anger, grief, depression, vanity and pride. Such things should be literally dead in us before we can obtain the Holy Spirit. Even then, in accordance with the witness of the holy and God-bearing fathers, it stays only for a short while. When it comes it usualy is a precursor for a new spiritual battle.

It's good you pray for the Holy Spirit. But, first you need to understand that you are praying for God the Creator to come and dwell in you. If we pray for that, shouldn't we be afraid that when He comes he will burn us alone with our impurities?

He is Holy, you know.

Well, your concept of True Christian and mine are vastly different. I don't recall Jesus saying wither on the floor and speak in tongues.

I recall Jesus saying sell all you own and buy a sword, but don't live by it.

Leaves your homes behind and go out into the world with nothing but the shoes on your feet, that sword, you coat and cloak, but nothing in your pockets. Ask for what you need. Spread the word and the truth. If asked to carry the pack 5 miles carry it 10 miles. If asked for your coat, also give your cloak. If struck on the left cheek, offer them the right as well. Everyone should marry, and cling to them for life and never set them aside except for adultery. You must put God above your Mother, Father, Son and Daughter.

That's the Christianity of the Bible.

You're a disciple of Paul, not Jesus.

I follow Jesus and God, not some man who says women are to be silent in the Church.

Why would you want or need to speak in tongues? Be careful because that is something not to be taken lightly....

I would say feeling the Holy Ghost, or the Spirit of God, is different in different circumstances. Sometimes it is a feeling of peace, somtimes comfort, sometimes it is a feeling of warning that we are doing something we shouldn't be, it could be a "burning" in your chest that causes you to know truth...I know at church when I hear other's bear their testimony, the Holy Ghost manifests to me what they are saying is true and strengthens my own testimony.
I am sure it is somewhat different for everyone.

I think that's its great that you are speaking in tongues!
I pray to Jesus in tongues all the time. I really do it alot when something big is on my mind. All you need to do is ask the Holy Spirit to come into your heart. Just praise the LORD!

All people who have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior have the Holy Spirit. The pentecost churches I have seen that are "full Gospel" seem to thrive on emotion.

peace, joy and love

if u want to speak in tongues, focus on God not on the Gift, just worship him and ask to know Him more.
its all about worshipping God.
