I'm assuming its far different than what makes a man cheat on his girlfriend. I'm familiar with all those reasons, but now I'm curious about the opposite sex's reasons for infidelity.

1. he has hurt her so badly, she no longer feels being true is all that important.
2. she is almost ready to leave the relationship anyway so is willing to take a risk
3. she really wasn't ready to settle down yet
4. she is lonely
5. she is not the faithful type
6. revenge because he has done it to her
7. she meets someone who is too tempting to pass up
8. someone comes back into her life she never thought she would see again
9. out with her friends, gets carried away, regrets it later
10. he has stopped bathing and he stinks. new guy showers, wears aftershave and smells good.

In my honest opinion women will mostly cheat because they feel neglected, or else they meet a man who is really really good at making them feel special and theyre husband doesn't give them much attention. It's romance and the feeling of connection that will allow a woman to cheat. If she cheats she might be more likely to fall in love just to justify her cheating.

According to a 2005 Playboy survey on infidelity the results for women was this (total is more than 100% since respondents were allowed multiple answers since often it is for multiple reasons):
57% for emotional needs
48% for reassurance of desirability
40% for companionship
39% for excitement

If you really must know, women cheat because we want it all, rich but still hood, smart but not pompous, sexy but not conceited, fun but not childish.
There is no one man with all the attributes we want because they sometimes contradict each other, so we have to get it elsewhere.

i want to respond to this one because i have dated married women and women with bf's... i think they cheat because the relationship has lost that fling and its now boring... and most women just want something new in there lives and when things become to much like a run over (something done over and over again) they want something new...

because we feel detached emotionally, we find it elsewhere and that usually leads to cheating.
Guys cheat because they see something better physically
women cheat because they found somthing better emotionally
