In the words of one of my favorite teachers ever:

"Ignorance is not knowing. Stupid is knowing and doing it anyway."

Ignorance befits someone who is uneducated, unaware and/or uninformed but sometimes what you don't know won't hurt you. For example, she decided not to read the critics' reviews--ignorance is bliss. Although its truth may be dubious at best, this idea has been expressed since ancient times. The actual wording, however, comes from Thomas Gray's poem, "Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College" (1742): "Where ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise."

Going on my definition, if the shoe fits, wear it. You can apply this application to anyone.

Ignorance is refusing to recognize facts I know this Yankee fellow who knows all things and he doesn't really have a lick of sense.he wont listen.to reason. if I prove him wrong he says I am lieing, if I show him on the computor or a book the facts he says there wrong.people who think they know everything dont know nothing.just because people dont know everything is not being ignorant. no one knows every thing. its when you dont wont to know anything else. That you think you know enough, then your ignorant.By the way calling someone a Yankee is not an insult.they call me a rebel. I dont take that as being an insult.Peace.

Ignorance is only, and should only be, used to describe a "state of being ignorant" or intentionally unaware/uninformed. It is the choice to not act or behave in accordance with regard to certain information in order to suit ones own needs/beliefs."I know better but I choose to ignore that and do/say/act in a way that behooves me."

You are ignorant of the meaning of the word ignorance.

if they have no clue of the meaning then they are"ignortant" of the meaning.... just means one dose not know about a particular subject..... I am ignorant about quantum physics and intersteler navigation... but I can stll read SiFi and enjoy it in my ignorance... however being ignorant of some things in life can get you killed... so ignorance is not good in some cases... and not bad in others... every one is ignorant of something...many somethings actualy....

Ignorance and prejudice I hold hand in hand. Ignorance is making a conclusion without knowing the facts. It is plain and simple.
