How long typically does it take after the testing and interviews for BNSF to contact you and let you know if they are offering you a position or not. I interviewed 4 weeks ago for a conductors position in Birmingham, AL and have heard nothing so far. This interview is for a class that is starting in May. I sent an email and was told I passed the tests and that nobody has been eliminated so far.

I am an engineer/conductor for BNSF. Starting out it's a roller coaster. You might not find out until a week or the day of the first day of class. BNSF is cutting jobs down due to slow traffic right now so they're probably not in a hurry to get classes started just so they can furlough the guys/girls. There is no telling with BNSF human resources. And look at your paperwork, it's not even BNSF that does the testing, they contract it out, and the contractors suck about getting BNSF the info. If it's in May, I would be more apted to guess they'd contact you about a week before class starts.......if you're lucky, there's just no telling and nobody on here can give you a definite answer. Whatever you do, if you get the job, DO NOT give your 2 weeks notice to your previous employer until you actually go to the first day of class and all paperwork for hiring is completed. This may not be very professional, but it ensures you have a job if BNSF decides to cancel the class the day it's supposed to start, which they have done. Good Luck, and remember this one phrase. Seniority Matters.
