Must I just wait for it to grow back or is there a reversal process and if so, is it damaging?

I had to wait and let mine grow back out.

you have to wait f or it to grow out. The is no reversal for something permanent. The only thing you could do would be to get a PERM but that would be really damaging to your hair after having the straightener

Unfortunately you're gonna have to wait for it to grow back.. For the future, buy a chi ceramic straightener and straighten it only when you want it straight. otherwise leave it curly and then you have the best of worlds.

I got my hair straightened before & it only lasted a week! DAMN curls =)
