Help, please!! My little male papillon is just a bundle of nerves and I don't know what to do with him. Has anyone had any success with holistic treatments for nervous dogs?

Thanks.

Wow - thanks, you guys! I just talked to a trainer this morning - we have 2 other dogs who are both very confident, so I'm just at a loss what to do with my poor little guy. I wish I could give ALL of you 10 points! I'm going to have to let this one go to vote.

Thank you all very much.

Help is available!
Bach Flowers Rescue Remedy is a great way to relax pets.
They are flower extracts, very good for people too, and have no possible side effects, just put 2-4 drops in the water bowl every day after changing it or a few drops of it pure between the shoulder blades in an emergency. It costs only a few dollars and it's a great holistic remedy for many stress-related conditions in pets and humans.

Training and behaviour classes also help greatly with nervous dogs. Find below a link to a helpful book full of hints and addresses.

I work in a Vet's office and one of our vet's specializes in Herbal medicine and acupuncture. You may be able to find a vet in your area that offers the same thing. Her clients swear by it. She has also treated my dog with some herbs for a problem with some of her blood levels.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

I see why you have a warped sense of the world. You are trying to medicate your dog. I now understand why you can not think for yourself.

we give our new rescues and any other overly anxious dogs valerian root. It works very well and can be used daily. call your vet to find out dosage amounts for your dog.
