I have heard for years that there is a legal stance that can be made to not pay, or deal with the IRS that is legal. If I remember correctly it had something to do with the verbage in the laws that stated ferdral taxation was a voltary program.

I'm not planning to try this, just curious if anyone had (or knew someone) whom had tried this and what the outcomes were.

Myth. A lot of the proponents of those frivolous positions pick and choose their support and don't consider the whole picture.

The IRS has published on their website their position on these arguments and the court cases have agreed with the IRS every single time.

Tax Protestors are batting a combined .000 in court so give it a shot.

A IRS commissioner once said that "...we have a tax system that is based on voluntary compliance." What this means is that you calculate your own tax liability on your own time. Tax Protestors misconstrued this statement to mean that we have a voluntary tax system.

there are those who tried and got away with it. Bottom line is they WERE an exception. If you've already filed a tax return at ANYTIME in your life, there's no recourse. Those "exceptions" were that they never filed to begin and probably did jobs paid in cash, but it also means that they were never entitled to any refund. why let government have money you already had taken out when you're entitled to refund.
